THE MODERATOR: I am delighted to welcome world No. 18, Ludvig Ã…berg, to the media centre at the FedEx Open de France. Ludvig Ã…berg, this is your first time teeing it up at this historic event. How excited are you to be here?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Yeah, absolutely. Like you said, it's the first time playing this event. But I've played the golf course a few times, and I've enjoyed my time every year, every time I've been here.

So it's a great tournament, and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

THE MODERATOR: Your last visit was 2024 with the Olympics. Talk to us about some of those memories that you have from that.

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Yeah, I mean, I've always -- first time I came here a couple years ago, I always thought this course is built for big events. You can see the Ryder Cup being a great venue for this. You can see the Olympics being a really good venue for this.

And, yeah, I just remember walking up 18 with the amphitheater behind the green and how cool No. 1 and No. 2 was, with the natural grandstands.

So it's a great golf course, great tournament, and I'm sure it will be a good couple days of golf.

THE MODERATOR: We'll open up to some questions.

Q. You were here first time 2022 in the World Amateur Championships. It was a different layout. You were here at the Olympics two years ago. It was a different layout, different time of year. So do you have the feeling that you have to start your knowledge of the golf course all over again from scratch every time you show up here?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: I wouldn't say so. I think, I mean, obviously, since a couple years ago, the golf course changed a little bit layout-wise, mainly 4, 5, 6, and then obviously a new tee box on 15.

But other than that, I think it's played quite similarly, depending on what time of the year. We were here in the summer for the Olympics, and obviously rough was up.

And it's been a pretty dry summer here in Europe, so naturally the golf course is going to be a little bit more firm. But I think they've done a tremendous job of keeping it very lush and very green.

And, yeah, I think the greens are new, they're settling in, but they're rolling true and rolling really good. So I think it will be a good tournament.

Q. What do you think about the new holes, 4, 5, and 6?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Yeah, I mean, I think the way it used to be before, obviously, 4 was a really strong golf hole, which it still is. Obviously, it feels like it's always playing a little bit into the wind.

I thought 5 and 6 were great golf holes the way they were before. I thought with the skinny fairways and a wedge in your hand, I thought you still had to hit really good golf shots, but it would also give you an opportunity.

I think today, obviously, the fairway is a little bit wider on 5, a little bit wider on 6.

But, you know, the characteristics are still there. Obviously the greens have changed a little bit. 5 used to be a little bit different to the way it is now. But I still think the characteristics and the identity of the golf course is still there.

Q. Obviously the tournament is not at the same standard as a major or the TOUR Championship or big signature events. How do you manage to perform in those events that are -- in which there is less pressure or less media, less crowd, maybe? Is it tougher or easier to be at your A game?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: I mean, I still view every tournament I play in, I still view the same almost. And, you know, I will assure you tomorrow morning on the tee box I'm going to be nervous. I'm going to be the same feelings that I always play when I go play a tournament.

So, yeah, it might not be a major, but it's still a big tournament, big golf course, good field. So I expect myself to feel all the same things I do normally when I play a tournament.

And, you know, I'd like to think I'm a professional and I like to do things the right way. And being here I'm preparing as well as I can to be ready tomorrow and then hopefully perform the way I know I can.

Q. You're playing in a couple tournaments these weeks in Europe. How would you like to see the inception in the coming years of a potential fall series with elite golfers and touring a bit around the historic Opens throughout Europe with this tournament on this course potentially being part of it?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Yeah, absolutely. I think the way PGA TOUR Tour is going to change in '28, I think it opens up for that.

Last couple years for me, I've spent majority of the first part of the year, first six months over in the U.S., and then I'd like to come over here and play. I haven't spent more than two days in the U.S. last, you know, couple of months. So anytime I've had an off week, I've gone back to Sweden, and I've stayed there.

So I like to spend the majority of the year from the summer and on over here. And if that includes playing some good events, good tournaments, big golf courses, I'm definitely going to be all for that. And I think the way the Tour schedule is going to work in '28, I think there would be an opportunity for that.

Q. A few years ago we talked, and you gave up the information that you did have French class at school. I'm very happy to give you the chance today to give us a sample of what you learned back then, and I think a lot of people would like to hear it.

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: It's not very good. I did study French in high school, but, yeah, I don't know it. Sorry.
