THE MODERATOR: Thank you for attending the press conference of Team China, host nation.

How are the team spirits so far?

CAPTAIN ZHENG JIE: So yeah, this is my first time to do the China team captain. It's my honors. So yeah, we play in the hometown. Of course, we want to do way best, yeah.

THE MODERATOR: Qinwen, you're not often playing on a team. How is it this week for you? How special is it? How is it with the girls?

ZHENG QINWEN: Yeah, it's kind of a new experience for me to play in the Billie Jean King Cup. The last time I play was on 2024. I think so far we've been prepared really well.

As you guys know, we have a really strong doubles team. Me and Xiyu, I think we focusing on the singles matches. I think we both prepare really well. We are really good team together.

Of course, we are looking forward in our first match here against Italy. But I think all of us, we are just trying to enjoy on court and let's see what we can do this year in Shenzhen.

THE MODERATOR: Questions first in English.

Q. Question for the captain. From the experience of last year, how would it be to face against Italy again on this court here in Shenzhen? For Qinwen, you said a bit how it is to be back playing in this competition with your national team. What do you expect about facing Paolini? What is your relationship with her outside the court?

CAPTAIN ZHENG JIE: Yeah, we play the Italy again. This is a very strong team. Two-time Billie Jean King Cup. Last year we lost two singles matches very close. We still have little bit chance. But you know on the court everything has some possible. Just want to see we try best. All ready for the match.

ZHENG QINWEN: I mean, again, Jasmine, we are already kind of old opponents together. We play couple times on the WTA Tour, but I never play against her in the team matches.

I think everything will be different. It's new matches, new area. I'm just trying to performance on the tennis court and let's see what's going to happen this year.

Italy got a strong team, as I think we are. China, we have a really strong team, as well. I hope this year we can have a great performance.

But no pressure. We are here just to enjoy and playing tennis, then show the fans how is our Chinese team, yeah.
