Q. An eighth, a 14th, and now a seventh at Bristol. Not bad?

BUBBA WALLACE: Yeah, not a bad night. Just kind of ran our own race and had a couple close calls, but for the most part our Outlaw Light team did a really good job all night. Executed. We're usually seventh to tenth when we come here. We were on the front side of that tonight, so we're making improvements. I really appreciate the hard work on the short track program.

Just wanted more. Obviously started licking chops there at the end, but just a little bit too far back. All in all, really good, excited for the next three weeks. Mile-and-a-halfs, Toyotas are super strong, get some separation, get away from the hornet's nest I feel like we've been in for the last month or so and get some Toyotas back on top and get back to Victory Lane.

Q. So there at the end there was really no other option than to be a bowling ball and work your way forward, right?

BUBBA WALLACE: Yeah, it started to turn into Gateway again, and I didn't want any part of it. Yeah, just all in all, decent clean night for us. Yeah, just want to win here bad. It's such a super fun place. No matter how the race plays out you're just thrown in the washing machine for 500 laps and it's super cool.

Q. Can you understand your friend's frustration on the night and the show at the end tonight?

BUBBA WALLACE: I haven't seen what led to their demise. I just seen the aftermath when the 12 was spun into the wall. I need to go back and see. But yeah, it's NASCAR. It's the Chase. Here we go.

Q. It's Bristol.

BUBBA WALLACE: That's right.
