The Cliffs at Walnut Cove
Quick Quotes
Q. Brendan, I know not the two weeks that you wanted, but if we can just get some comments on your experience here in Asheville this week.
BRENDAN VALDES: Yeah, I mean, it's a beautiful spot. I mean, a great venue. I will say off the golf course it was a lot of fun. Looking at the views on golf course was a lot of fun.
The way played wasn't the greatest. But it's nice to be back.
Q. What did you learn from the experience?
BRENDAN VALDES: I learned I got to practice. That's what I learned. I mean, honestly wasn't really the nerves that got me. It was I hit it actually decent off the tee box, and into the greens was really piss poor.
I learned that hitting offside slopes, which you don't get much in Florida, that is something I greatly struggled with.
It's just the whole thing is a learning experience. Basically everything I did I try and learn from.
Q. Do you think when you look back you'll just be grateful you got this opportunity?
BRENDAN VALDES: Oh, of course. Absolutely. I mean, I couldn't be more grateful to have this. To be from where I was to where I am now, I would've taken whatever place I got four months ago.
So thankful to everyone out at this event. Thanks to Nate for helping get me the spot. I'm grateful for it, and hoping I can start getting a little bit better moving forward.
Q. Last one: What's next? What's the next step for you?
BRENDAN VALDES: Yeah, next step is get back home, rest up a little bit, and then just get back to practicing. Whatever I can play for the rest of the year, I would like to get something in. Just try and be as prepared as possible for Korn Ferry Tour next year.
Q. Golfers everywhere can relate to your last hole there. Just talk a little bit about that hole.
BRENDAN VALDES: Yeah, no, I hit a poor shot off the tee box. Went into a bunker, which actually hit a pretty good shot out of. Went on the green, and then took its sweet little time up there and then figured it wanted to roll all the way down about 70 yards down the fairway.
And then I forgot I was playing golf and started playing ping pong. I started ping ponging it back and forth across the green. Yeah, I think I made what, an eight on the last hole. Great way to cap off a great week.
THE MODERATOR: Thank you, sir, we appreciate it.
BRENDAN VALDES: Thank you.
