Q. Well-played. 65 in the lead after a couple of blustery days. How did it feel out there for you today?

RYAN GERARD: Just A really, really solid day of golf. Conditions at times were pretty difficult with the wind picking up. Wentworth is not easy with some of these pin locations they like to stick us with during the tournament. You've just got to be really patient, pick your spots, and do a good job. If you get out of position, take your medicine and hit the shot that needs to be hit and not try to force the issue.

We did a really good job all day of hitting to the right spots and hitting golf shots to the proper side.

Q. Wedge play and driving seemed to be the key for me. How was it for you? Was it that or keeping the mistakes for the minimum?

RYAN GERARD: It's both. You have to take advantage if you get a wedge in why you are hand, and if you get a number, you have to give it all you've got because there's a lot of holes where you can't go after it. Take advantage where you can.

We did a really good job of hitting quality shots. I've been hitting the driver and 3-wood good all year. Feels right in my wheelhouse when I stand on some of these tee boxes. I like the way the holes are shaped and I feel good when I have the clubs in my hand.

Q. It seems key, you're mentioning the wind, how important is it to be on the same page with your caddie? You seem to get on well together.

RYAN GERARD: My caddie, he's great. We've known him for a while. We were friends even before. I just know we are out here and he's going to take it really seriously. But he always keeps it light and make sure we're having fun.

I dreamed of playing golf growing up, and this is my dream. Sometimes you need a kick in the pants to remember that, when you are mad at yourself because you hit a bad shots, that's okay. But there's a reason why you play and this is the best thing in the world that you can do.

Q. Talk about that finish.

RYAN GERARD: I don't know if I was feeling eagle, birdie finish but stayed patient all day. You know when you get to the last couple holes at Wentworth here, they are gettable. There's also trouble lurking, so you have to be careful. Just felt like we were putting the ball in the right spots all day. Good things happen when you sick to the plan and execute shots.

Q. This is your second time playing at this course and this championship. What are you learning about what works for you at this course?

RYAN GERARD: I think the course looks very similar to courses that I've grown up on, and I feel very comfortable with a lot of the tee shots and angles and things like that.

So you know, it's a golf tournament that you have to be prepared to play. Our job is to be prepared for that week and I feel like the first year is kind of difficult sometimes but second year, you should be ready to go.

So I did a lot of prep last year, did some more this year, had a really good understanding of the wind and where the pins are and how some of the greens like to shape and slope and where you don't want to be.

So done a really good job of just staying patient and executing good golf shots up until this point, and hopefully more this weekend.

Q. You've been in Europe a couple of weeks now. For you, does playing somewhere different give you maybe a mental space? Because you play obviously year-round. Does it help change perspective?

RYAN GERARD: A little bit. I just love playing golf. The DP World Tour is a great tour and we're lucky to have fantastic events like this one that I can come play in what would technically be the off-season on the PGA TOUR.

I just enjoy playing golf. There's a lot of really awesome places outside of the United States that we don't get to go to very often. To be lucky enough to come over here to Wentworth and also go to France next week, other events on the schedule, it's really, really cool that I have that opportunity, and we're going to take advantage of it.
