BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

September 17, 2026

Ryan Gerard

Virginia Water, Surrey, England

Wentworth Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Talk us through your adventures today.

RYAN GERARD: Yeah, kind of wet, windy, nasty morning, and it's turned out real nice right now. But just kind of hung tough all day. Didn't feel like I played particularly great. Just hitting solid golf shots. Felt like I was just burning edges on a lot of putts and just tried to stay patient; and was lucky enough to make like a seven- or eight-footer on 7, and maybe a 12-footer on 8, to kind of finish the round on a high note.

Q. Last time we saw you was Crans Montana, quite a stretch for you back then, I think it was six in a row. How was the week off? Much needed, I would imagine.

RYAN GERARD: Really nice. A lot of sleeping. Feels good to kind of be fresh this week. So, excited to continue playing, but it was a nice week off.

Q. Nice round as well today. How does Wentworth suit your eye?

RYAN GERARD: I played here last year. I really like the golf course. I feel like I got used to a couple of the tee shots that are a little bit more weird and difficult. I hit a really good tee shot on 17, a really good tee shot on 18 and didn't take advantage of them. Those are holes I really struggled with last year off the tee because the angles are a bit strange.

I like this golf course a lot. You just have to kind of be patient. The hole locations can get pretty gnarly, and I felt like we were putting the ball in the right spots.

Q. When some guys play Wentworth for the first time, it can take a few years to get to grips with the eccentricities of the course. That something you found?

RYAN GERARD: Maybe a little bit. I just feel really comfortable. The golf course is pretty straightforward. There's not a lot of hidden kind of things. But there are a lot of tee shots that you have to really commit to, and the lines are a little bit weird. The greens have a lot of pitch to them in spots.

So you've just got to go out there with the right attitude and just really pick it apart and not try and get too ahead of yourself. Because if you leave it on the wrong side of some of these holes, you're going to have 25 feet coming back. You just try not to do that and did a good job of that today.

Q. Over in the States, obviously you have THE PLAYERS, that's your big Flagship tournament; this is ours. How does it compare, and are you enjoying the crowds?

RYAN GERARD: It's cool. I feel like we got some big crowds today. I don't know if they were watching us or just waiting for Rory to come in behind us, but a lot of people are really stoked to be here and that's awesome. You can feel the energy.

It's a great tournament. It's very well run from top to bottom, and they do a great job of treating it like a Flagship Event. Excited to be here and hopefully it's not my first but second of many that I play.
