THE MODERATOR: Welcome. Your thoughts on this year's Open?
LINDA NOSKOVA: Well, every year I obviously cannot wait till the matches are starting. So I love US Open. I have always been and felt very comfortable here, so it's nice to be back after a year again.
THE MODERATOR: Questions.
Q. Is your schedule different this year since you're coming off the Wimbledon win? Are there more responsibilities? Has it gotten crazier for you?
LINDA NOSKOVA: Yeah, a little bit. Obviously it's one of those things that you kind of have to do. It's all part of whatever happened a couple of weeks ago.
But I'm getting used to it, obviously. It's not something I have always been kind of very comfortable in, so I'm still, you know, learning new things along the way.
But for me, the most important thing is just to keep on, you know, focusing on the matches and not get ahead of myself, I guess.
Q. Obvious question: How does it feel being at the first Grand Slam after winning a Grand Slam? Does it feel like you have more confidence, I guess, in your ability to go deep here than you did before?
LINDA NOSKOVA: No, it doesn't (smiling). No, for me, I always come to a tournament with a completely, you know, new kind of mental state, I guess. For me, it has always been very important to focus on each match like nothing ever happened before. No success or no failure.
So for me, whatever happened happened, and this is a brand-new tournament. I just have to start all over.
Q. You mentioned not getting ahead of yourself. How difficult is it after such an accomplishment like that to not get ahead of yourself or feel more pressure on you?
LINDA NOSKOVA: For me, it's easy, because I really want to, you know, stay the same, not really change many things around me. So whenever there is something new or something I'm not used to, I just kind of always want to stick with the things that I know how to do, and whatever is new, I just kind of get used to it. But I know that, you know, all the attention or all of the media stuff, it's not forever.
You know, all of this is because of the achievement that I had. So I just have to have another one just to keep going.
Q. What were the biggest lessons you learned from winning Wimbledon? How are you going to use that entering your first major as a slam champion?
LINDA NOSKOVA: Yeah, well, I definitely learned a lot along the way, along those two weeks, and not only those two weeks. But it's something I've always worked for. It is always something that I dreamed of winning and doing. But it's still all brand new, so it's very tough to get used to whatever comes in this way.
But I feel like I have learned mainly the fact that I'm possible -- it's possible, you know, for me to do it, for me to make it till the very end, and just lift Grand Slam trophy.
I feel like all of us, all players, just dream about that moment and when it actually comes, it's very hard to realize, and to realize all the things that went into it.
Q. You have talked about some of the things you did after winning. What were some of the most memorable things that happened to you in the last, since leaving England?
LINDA NOSKOVA: Yeah, I met with the Czech president. That was huge (smiling). I was so excited from the invite. It was me, Karolina, Barbora Strycova, Lucie Safarova. It was very nice, very comfy, and it was one of the things I'm definitely going to remember.
But also, the things that like my hometown welcomed me. 3,000 people came to one place. That was incredible just to see just a bunch of people that actually watched the match.
But yeah, a lot of congratulations from people that weren't really expected, and that kind of stuff.
Q. I don't know if this is intentional, but in your answers I don't think you've said the word "Wimbledon" yet. Are you avoiding saying it? Is this something you're trying to... Maybe that's not intentional.
LINDA NOSKOVA: You know, it's not intentional. But I feel like I have had enough of it (smiling) in a good way. I mean, it's something that it's so big and huge that it's very tough to, you know, actually swallow, but at the same time, we have a new Grand Slam here. I cannot be stuck in my head space at Wimbledon (smiling).
Yeah, I will just try to redo what I did.
