THE MODERATOR: Flavio, first of all, congratulations. Another hard-fought win. Your thoughts on advancing and your level of play today.
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Yeah, I think I played a good level today. Since the beginning of the match, I think Tristan played unbelievable first set.
So I'm happy with my performance. I'm happy for what I did in the court and how I managed the thing that happens. Also because it was really hot out there, so it's really tough to play. Also because we play five sets.
It's never easy to manage these kind of things, so I'm really proud of my performance and how I played.
THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.
Q. Well played. I saw an interview after your first-round match where you said you were feeling a bit of stress after getting through that five-set match. Did that relax you more coming into this match?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Yeah, maybe. I think I played a few hours -- I mean, I played few hours in the first match, so give me a lot of confidence. Also because I won from two sets down, so I think it help me a lot for tennis, maybe not helping a lot for the shape, for the body.
But today I was really good also with the shape of my body, so I'm really proud for my recovery from the first match and now for what I did today.
Q. A crazy tweener winner, the lob. What was going through your head when you're doing that?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Nothing, nothing.
Q. Nothing?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Nothing. Is something that you have to do something, because the ball comes very fast, and I didn't prepare. I thought that it was the chance to have a winner with the tweener and I tried, so for today was really lucky.
Q. (Off mic.)
FLAVIO COBOLLI: No, no. I did better.
Q. How many times have you tried that shot before, and what was your reaction in the moment when you saw where it landed?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: I think I never tried on matches. Sometimes we tried a tweener but in the opposite side. So maybe I tried twice in my life (smiling).
Today I tried for the third time, and it was really good to see the ball land into the line. So I think I'm not gonna try again for the next matches, but I'm gonna work in the practice, because maybe help for my game.
Q. What happened the other two times you tried it?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Better to don't tell you (smiling).
Q. I wanted to ask about pressure. You talked earlier this month about making pressure your friend, and you found yourself in this tournament in two matches where you were under quite a bit of pressure coming back from two and coming back from one today. How is that relationship developing? Do you feel like it's getting more comfortable?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: I mean, the pressure that I says is always outside the court. When I'm in the court, I feel more comfortable. I feel more Flavio.
So I don't feel a lot of pressure, because I like to compete. I like to stay on court. I like to make this war in the court. So it's very nice to have pressure in the court.
But sometimes I feel a little bit of pressure outside of the court because for what I did this year, for what I want to achieve, and for what I want to do in my future.
I know that pressure is here but is something that, like I said on that day, something that don't have to take me out of energy but be like as a friend.
Q. When you talk about the future and your goals for the future, what is the big goal, the one that you were thinking of when you just said...
FLAVIO COBOLLI: For this year, everybody knows my goal. I think is pretty easy, that my goal is to be in Turin, and I'm trying with my best.
Q. I really like your service motion, it's very fluid, and particularly your kick serve. How did that shot develop? I know when you're younger, there is a time when you don't have enough strength to do it, right?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: Yeah, it's something that I always had in my tennis. Also, Tristan today, he's a good kicker. And it was nice to, you know, be in court and try to have the best kick of the match.
So I think he has a very good kick, but also me. We grew up a lot, like I said in the past, we grew up on clay, so we usual to have more kick than flat serve.
Now I'm very comfortable when I do a kick.
Q. What is it like traveling with your brother?
FLAVIO COBOLLI: How is it traveling with my brother? Next question (smiling).
No, it's very nice. He's always on the bench. He's always with me. He love this life. He don't love to, you know, be a tennis player, because he need to, you know, work.
He like more, like, to stay outside and be my first friends, and I think is the most important people of my life. So we have a good relationship, and it's very important to have him on the bench and on the tour.
Of course now he start to university, so he can travel a little bit less next year, but when he can, it's always a very nice thing.
