THE MODERATOR: Ladies, tremendous run. Outstanding tournament. If you could, each of you, your thoughts on what you've just done over the last two weeks.

ROBIN MONTGOMERY: I mean, I think with what we've just done has been amazing. I think we did forget that we were offered a wild card, so I'm just glad we made good use of it, and I'm glad we were able to come back together and continue playing here, especially with our success in juniors.

Yeah, it's just amazing. I think we're both just trying to take it all in.

ASHLYN KRUEGER: Yeah, I think the energy we brought on the court was something special. Not only because, you know, we're paired up this week, but because we've known each other for so long.

So I think that came out in the way that we were playing on the court. I'm just very happy with obviously getting to the final, but just the doubles that we played the last couple of weeks.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Congratulations, ladies. Can you talk about your road to the final and what you've learned in playing in this tournament, the wild card, and almost coming close to winning?

ASHLYN KRUEGER: Yeah, I mean, I think it takes a lot of grit. We were down match points, and there were a couple of matches where it was very close, and it could have totally not gone our way. You know, we both made up our mind to kind of keep fighting and be uncomfortable and continue to play and be aggressive.

So in those moments, like, just remembering and reminding each other of that I think was super big. So that translates not only in doubles, but in singles, and I think that's a really good lesson for us to learn.

ROBIN MONTGOMERY: Yeah, I mean, I think we also learned that we have each other, and I think this past two weeks brought us even closer together.

I think if, as Ashy said, in matches it could have gone either way, there were definitely moments, but we were both willing to commit to being uncomfortable with each other. During that process, it got, in a way, for us, if I'm not going to do it for myself, I'm going to do it for Ash, and vice versa. I think that really helped us become closer and then also work more together and bring that energy on the court.

Q. Congratulations, ladies, on a great run. Robin, two-part question. One, how did it feel to be on Ashe in a Grand Slam final? And pretty big day with the JTCC with you, and Frances playing later. Can you tell me about how the JTCC helped mold you and sort of the incredible day here, having both of you playing and representing it on this semifinal and final stage?

ROBIN MONTGOMERY: I mean, playing on Ashe is amazing. I think the atmosphere, especially today, was amazing. Honestly, I'm very glad I got to experience that with Ash. Well, Ashlyn. Sorry (laughing).

I'm very grateful for being able to compete on that court. It's an amazing experience, and I'll always remember it.

As for College Park, obviously it's great that I was able to compete today on it and Frances is going to play on it later. I think they're just like a second family. JTCC will always hold a place in Frances' heart and my heart. I think seeing him do well, as well as Hailey and all of us coming out of there, it just motivates each other even more.

I'm just glad I made it to the second week to still be with Frances, but I think it's just community and family. We all push each other just to be better and try to strive for the top.

Q. Role models for the other kids that are training there now? I imagine you feel that way?

ROBIN MONTGOMERY: Yeah, definitely. I think they might look up to Frances a little bit more, but --

Q. You made it to the final. I mean...

ROBIN MONTGOMERY: Yeah, I'm obviously excited to go back home after this result, and I hope they look up to me fully and just know that singles and doubles is also -- you can do great things in both.

Q. Well done in the whole tournament. I know you played ITF level in doubles and lower WTA events. I'm curious, when you got the wild card and played throughout this whole tournament, did it kind of feel like you picked up where you left off after that gap? Then looking ahead, is this potentially a future doubles partnership that we could see at more tournaments, not just the rest of this year, but maybe years beyond?

ASHLYN KRUEGER: Yeah, I mean, I think it was very easy for us, again, because we're such good friends, so it didn't feel like anything was really lost in between those couple of years that we hadn't been on court.

Of course, like, I really love playing with Robin. It's so much fun, and that's most important to me is obviously winning but enjoying my time out there. It's very easy to do with her.

If we can -- I mean, our rankings are higher now, thank God, so I think our schedules will line up a little bit more, and we'll be able to play more tournaments, and we're going to strive to play as much as we can.

Q. Just the experience of the third set when you knew it was one set all, and obviously they have a lot of experience in these situations, were there nerves, excitement? What were you feeling there knowing it was a deciding set and the way that they had just come back in the second set?

ROBIN MONTGOMERY: I think it was obviously a mix of nerves and kind of just trying to find that momentum shift, since obviously the second set went by pretty quick.

I'll be honest, on my serve it definitely felt a little nervous, but I also knew I could trust Ashlyn to do what she needs to do at the net. As long as I set her up and do my part, she's going to be there to help me.

So at the same time, I think, I mean, at least I was also very excited, because it's not like we got worked. So we were lucky to be in a final set on Ashe and play in front of all the fans.

So I think it was a mix of nervousness and excitement, but I think at the end of the day, it's only because both really care and we both wanted to do really well.

Q. (Off microphone.)

ASHLYN KRUEGER: I agree. I think it was a little bit of a comedown. The last two matches have been very emotional. That also I think played for me a big part of just energy-wise, like I wish I had more energy.

But at the same time, they started picking up their game and playing very well and serving very well. Taylor was really active at the net and making her volleys and making really smart moves. I mean, they're 1 in the world. They were playing, like, the doubles team that are 1 in the world.

I'm really proud of us. I think the last two weeks have been amazing for both of us, and really happy that I got to do it with Robin.
