Quick Quotes
Q. The first on the board, 5-under through 10 holes and just never let up. What was behind that today?
ALISON LEE: To be fair, Lauren played some incredible golf today. I just felt like all I did was sit in the passenger seat. I just was kind of there and participated when I could. But she made some incredible putts, incredible approaches, especially on the front nine. I mean, I feel like if we're playing even, especially on the front, it's so important because you got to try to hit it close and give ourselves some chances at birdies instead of pressing into the back nine. But we had so much fun out there.
Q. You're being quite modest. You have not lost a match this week. Lauren you've never lost a match ever in the Solheim Cup. What is it about this environment that seems to bring out the best in both of you?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I think it's just so fun having teammates, especially having a partner out there to rely on. I mean, Alison played amazing as well. She's being a little modest. But we were just a really good team for the last two days. Hopefully, we can keep rooting on our teammates and get ready for the rest of the week.
Q. How does it feel to win by such a large margin?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Anytime you get a point, it's great, but it's nice to only have to play 13 holes today.
ALISON LEE: Lauren is going to have a very long day. She's already had a very long week. So to get any extra little bit of rest always means a lot. When you're playing like that, you just get into a groove, and it just feels really nice. You feel like you enter this flow state when you're out there and I feel like we felt that. I mean, even when we were on 12, I had a pressure par putt, but I had a bunch of confidence in us, and I knew that no matter how it went the next two holes we were just playing so consistently it just wouldn't have mattered anyway.
Q. What does it take to keep the pedal down rather than trying to protect going into this afternoon tomorrow?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: I think, again, just trying to stay so in the moment and not looking forward. I feel like that's what we did a really good job of. We just kept one shot at a time. It's very cliche, but it generally works.
ALISON LEE: Yeah, just keep fighting. We saw a lot of that yesterday, especially afternoon. And today, this morning, we saw a few matches flip. Hopefully they can flip back. And this afternoon as well, we just need to keep fighting because playing on foreign soil is always difficult. All the crowd is against you, but just got to keep pushing on the gas pedal.
Q. Lauren, you said you were trying to quiet 'em down a little bit out there. Does it put any pressure on you when start hearing the cheers from different holes or do you just try to stay in your game?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: Try to stay in my game. Obviously then you can kind of get a feel for how it's going, but really, again, you're just trying to stay and trying to get a point on the board and that's all you're really can focus on.
Q. I know you've both given each other a lot of credit in the last two interviews, but what about your personalities makes this match so special?
LAUREN COUGHLIN: I feel like we're both pretty chill.
ALISON LEE: Exactly what I was going to say. We're both pretty chill, pretty even keel. You don't ever see us get too crazy upset or, I mean, it's always great to be super pumped up when you're out here, but you also got to keep it respectful at the same time. But, yeah, we're just super chill. And we were so confident in each other, I had no doubt in my mind Lauren was going to hit a good shot, I hope she feels the same about me, but it was a good matchup.
LAUREN COUGHLIN: She hit a bunch of really good putts yesterday that didn't go in and she knocked a few in today.
ALISON LEE: Finally. (Laughing).
