Quick Quotes

Q. How determined were you after this morning and yesterday?

ROSE ZHANG: I was extremely determined. I didn't want to be pointless, at least for this Solheim Cup. But jokes aside, it's a huge honor to play for the U.S., and I wanted to represent as best as I could, and so for us to ham-and-egg and do extremely well in the afternoon. We had a lot of fun while doing it.

Q. How difficult is it -- you didn't have a point on the board yet. Of course you're determined. But how do you change things around?

AUSTON KIM: I think it's being a bit more aggressive in a sense, not reckless. But just trying to birdie every single hole. Four-ball is so much fun, especially when you have a partner as good as Rose. I knew I was safe all the time. But I think we were both able to give ourselves chances on every single hole today and it's just a matter of being aggressive when we can and safe when we have to be.

Q. It looked easy on the scoreboard. You've always had the lead today. But in the end, you've still got a little bit nervous. Is that a surprise or were you still both in control?

ROSE ZHANG: Yeah, we were quite in control, but obviously, the Europeans are going to give it a run, and I wouldn't put it past Nastasia and Leona to give up holes. So played with Leona this morning and saw how gritty she is. I knew she was gritty the last couple Solheim Cups, so that's just her reputation and we kind of had to put it in the back of our minds.

Q. What made this partnership so special today?

ROSE ZHANG: We didn't even know we were going to really play with each other. But we knew each other's game since junior amateur golf, and so I was super excited to be playing with Auston. She's an aggressive player, and I just knew we were going to ham-and-egg it pretty well.

AUSTON KIM: Rose is so steady, but she also makes a lot of putts, so it made my life easier today.

ROSE KHANG: She chipped in too, so I don't know what you're saying.

AUSTON KIM: I mean, it was so easy to be your cheerleader today. I had a lot of fun.

Q. You both got your first point for this Solheim Cup. Auston, your first Solheim Cup point ever. How does it feel?

AUSTON KIM: It feels great. And I'm really thankful that I got to share it with Rose today. It was a bit rough at the end, but we managed to get it done thanks to Rose, and we both hit a lot of really good shots today, so I'm really proud of us.

Q. Going into singles matches, what did you learn today that you'll take into tomorrow?

ROSE ZHANG: I think it's just you can birdie out here, you can play extremely well out here, and so being aggressive and not letting up holes is going to be important. And you just have to be on your A game, especially when you're on foreign soil. So hopefully, we can just have a great meal and be able to get it done tomorrow.

AUSTON KIM: Yeah, get enough rest, eat a lot of food, get prepared for tomorrow, what she said.
