Angela Stanford

Cromvoirt, Netherlands

Bernardus

U.S. Team

TV Interview

Q. Angela, at the end of yesterday the momentum was really with the United States and we saw almost the celebrations on the team bus going back to the hotel. Why did you think it was important to really celebrate that moment?

ANGELA STANFORD: Well, I mean, it was historic, first off. And I thought we kind of came out a little flat yesterday. We needed a jolt like that. So they needed to enjoy it. And they're all fired up again this morning.

Q. Let's talk about the end of the singles draw that you have put together today, because that could be where it comes down to with how tight the matches are. Talking about Kupcho, Duncan, Zhang. What was the reasoning for those players going out late?

ANGELA STANFORD: Yeah, I thought Kupcho played really well yesterday. I mean, she has all week. And then Rose, she's a stud, you always want Rose kind of in the mix. And Lindy, we're leaning in on her putting. She played well coming down the stretch yesterday in that match. People forget that if she doesn't birdie 16 we don't get to 17 and 18. So I know Lindy's going to be ready to go today. So I'm pretty confident in the end of our lineup. I mean, all over, but the end is going to be tough.

Q. Finally, these conditions, not always easy for the United States playing in poor conditions in Europe. Have you said anything to your team about how to handle these conditions and the crowds?

ANGELA STANFORD: Well, I forgot what day it was earlier this week, we were out there practice engine a downpour and not a single player wanted to come off the course. They knew eventually it was going to rain this week and they wanted to be prepared. So the they're ready and I love it, because I didn't have to tell 'em to stay.
