TV Interview

Q. With the winning captain. Congratulations, Captain Nordqvist. Anna, it's been an incredible week. Can you sum up what this means to you?

ANNA NORDQVIST: Yeah, I mean, this feels so good. There's just been so much hard work this week and in the last two years leading up to this from not only me, but all the background team. The helpers have been amazing this week, making it easy for the players just to play, and we just had a really good vibe all week. Everyone's been really good teammates.

Leaving the course yesterday, we were really excited for coming here today and, wow, was I impressed with every single player and caddie showing up to that first tee ready to play.

Q. When you looked at how things were progressing today, when did you start to get a sense that this was going to be your day?

ANNA NORDQVIST: Well, the rain was obviously, I don't know, good mojo for us early. It just seemed to be a lot of blue early on the board. We talked a lot about the fast starts this week with the way the golf course was and, yeah, I'm just really, really proud of the players for starting strong and even finishing strong.

Q. What was the philosophy with the singles lineup? It obviously worked. What were you thinking with this lineup?

ANNA NORDQVIST: Yeah, this was the no-brainer to put Charley first. We saw the stats yesterday, and Charley and Lottie were actually top-four players that made the most birdies for the week. Hadn't scored really many points, but they just played really tough matches. People don't understand how good all these players are and how good the golf has been all day in the last three days.

So Charley was a no-brainer, and then finishing strong with Carlota. As we know, she's done it in the past. And to see Lottie finish a good week. She's been playing so good this week and not really getting anything off of it. But holing the winning putt, I don't think that's ever going to be hard to remember for her.

Q. Describe that feeling for you watching that go in.

ANNA NORDQVIST: Yeah, I think there's just been so many emotions bottled up. It's just been such a long road. It's been a lot of hard work. It's been really hard retiring two weeks ago and then doing this and doing them both at the same time. But, yeah, last night was hard because I really hadn't had a moment to stop, and I think I sat down to eat for 10 minutes all day yesterday. So vice captains really picked me up. We had a couple of good speeches in the team room last night and everyone was just so excited to go play today.

Q. What did they say in those speeches and who made them?

ANNA NORDQVIST: I had a little bit of a short and sweet speech. And Anne, obviously the comeback the European team had in the Ping Junior Solheim on Monday was incredible. So she shared some thoughts and the mentality. And Mel and Hedwall, it's just been amazing doing this journey with them, so I couldn't have been more proud and happy and honored to do this journey with them.

Q. On a personal note, you started your journey in golf 20 years ago when you went to college in America. You're a three-time major champion, you're a Solheim Cup legend. Now you're a winning captain. What has that journey been like and describe what it feels now?

ANNA NORDQVIST: Yeah, I mean, I've been living my dream. I got an opportunity to come to the states in 2006 and everything an and I'm forever grateful for everything that's happened. Living my dream, it doesn't feel like I worked a day in my life. Having my family support from very far away, living in the U.S. on my own, but to have them here at every single Solheim Cup, and now to share it with my nieces and nephews, seeing my brothers cry, my sister-in-law, it's just always been a family affair for me. So I said it early in my speech that that's what makes Solheim Cup special is that you get to share it with others.
