Press Conference
Q. Todd, great playing today. Made it to the finals playing against a long-time friend. Can you just talk about some of the golf and emotions from today?
TODD WHITE: Yeah, well, as disappointed as I am right now, I'm equally as happy for Mike. He's obviously a great player, but he's an even better friend.
It's good to see good things happen for good people.
Q. Talk a little bit about, you know, the actual golf today. Opening hole, you won that with a birdie; is that correct?
TODD WHITE: Yeah. Unfortunately, that was kind of the highlight of the day for me.
No, hit the ball okay. Look, I tell the golfers on the girls and boys teams at school, any time you tee it up the real competition is the golf course you're playing.
Today, just like all week, my competition was Baltimore Country Club and it just so happened that Mike played the course better than I did today and he's the champion.
Q. And Walker Cup coming up. Have you talked to anyone over in Ireland?
TODD WHITE: I haven't spoken with, but I've texted back and forth with Nathan a little bit. We been a little busy here in Baltimore.
But mind shifts right now. Can't wait to tune in. I know Mike is going over. I'll be in the classroom tomorrow morning.
But can't wait to tune in and watch the matches over there. Biased, of course, but go USA and big the Cup back to us.
Q. Finally, we talked a little bit about it yesterday, just how excited are you for the other USGA championships you'll be playing in next year?
TODD WHITE: It's what you strive for as an amateur golfer. You want to play in events where you see the USGA flag go up. They're the most important events you play in and having the opportunity to play in a few more without having to go through the rigors of qualifying is certainly satisfying.
