TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

August 30, 2026

Ryan Gerard

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

East Lake Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Looked like a grind out there. Describe the fight. Double to start and the fight out there.

RYAN GERARD: Bit of a weird day. Just kind of felt a little off standing over the golf ball the majority of the day. Don't know if it's just like some fatigue or everything is a little off. Did a really good job of kind of just resetting after a really bad second shot on 1 and then making a mess of it from there.

Just unfortunately couldn't get, it felt like, anything to go in until I kind of made that curler on 15 and then tried to press it a little bit on 16 and just hung on in the last few holes.

Q. It's obviously so soon, but anything you feel like you can learn, take from it?

RYAN GERARD: Yeah, I've just got to play better. Just got to be more on it from just like a swing and a control standpoint. I feel like it wasn't that far off, but they made it as difficult as they could today, and that's kind of what we were looking for. I just wasn't on enough to execute shots to really tucked hole locations.

Kind of when the greens get firm and you're stuck in between clubs a lot, it's really hard to commit to hitting something high and soft or kind of going hard at something. Just need to do a better job of that and just kind of keep grinding.

Q. When you get away from all this and you think about what you did in Mauritius in December to set yourself up for 2026, how will you evaluate all that you've done the last eight months?

RYAN GERARD: Yeah, I'll be pretty proud of it. I think I played some really solid golf over the course of the year. Frustrated with some of the results, but I think I'm still playing a lot this fall. I'm going to get on a red-eye here in a couple hours to play DP World Tour next week.

We're getting ready to grind. Season's not over for me. Frustrated with some of the results, a lot of positives, but still work left to do.

Q. You think just giving yourself more chances is going to clear your mind when you get these opportunities?

RYAN GERARD: Yeah, I think if I just keep giving myself chances, eventually one's going to go in. Like I won last year. I've given myself a few opportunities this year. I have no doubt in my mind that, if I continue putting myself in solid positions, I'll get it done.

It's not for a lack of effort. It's not for a lack of mentality. It's just I didn't have it as well as I needed it today and just grinded it out hard. Hat's off to Scottie. 66 out there is pretty nice given some of the pin placements and the conditions.

Q. What went into the decision to play next week?

RYAN GERARD: Well, I need to play two more DP World Tour events to maintain not being suspended from their Tour. So that was one of them.

Like full transparency, if I get a Presidents Cup spot, I'd love to kind of roll into there being a little bit more prepared. I like to play a lot of golf. And if I don't, I'll probably just stay over there and play Wentworth and the France Open after that.

Yeah, a bit of a weird stretch of the year for me. I like playing lots of golf. I feel like I'm at my most prepared when I'm in kind of a rhythm. I'll be ready for whatever the future holds, but I need to get a couple more events in.
