FM CHAMPIONSHIP

August 29, 2026

Ruoning Yin

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

TPC Boston

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Ruoning Yin after her third round here at the FM Championship. A big finishing stretch there on 16 and 18; solo heading into tomorrow. Just what was your mindset heading into today's round?

RUONING YIN: I think just play my game. Because I know today is going to be tough and tomorrow is going to be tougher, so just be patient and play my game.

Q. Packed leaderboard. Getting that birdie on 18 to separate yourself, what was the kind of approach to that hole?

RUONING YIN: I mean, that hole is always three-shot hole. I mean, I can reach in two but I felt like it's getting a little cold right now, and so went for three shot.

I felt like I hit that wedge shot pretty good and I just don't know why it bounced so far. But Miyu's ball was right next to me so I saw the line a little bit. For that chip shot I just tried to focus on the spot I want to hit and just goes in.

Q. Had a couple chip-ins today. I know you and your caddie have a bet. Would you care to explain the bet and where we are at in that process?

RUONING YIN: Yeah, I think I have too many bets going on. Yeah, I think Dave and I have season-long bet. Just if I reach to 15 hole-outs he's going to buy my dinner; we're at 11.

Also my coach, he told me if I made birdie on the last hole he will buy my ice cream, and I think we are on 10 right now.

Q. What kind of ice cream? What flavor I meant.

RUONING YIN: Cookies and cream would be my go-to. Second one is going to be mint chocolate.

Q. Okay, okay. You told me earlier this year you're really hungry for another win. Obviously in a prime spot. What's it going to take tomorrow?

RUONING YIN: Patience. I think my coach and I had a deep talk early this week, and I think we both knew that it's coming. Just, yeah, all I need to do is just be patient and play my game and everything else will come.

Q. I guess sort of similar to that question, heading into the final round with the solo lead I'm sure adds a little bit of pressure or a different feeling I guess than you did today sort of chasing the lead. ^ Start what does that do for your game? Do you have to adjust the approach when you're playing with the lead?

RUONING YIN: No, I don't think so, because I think my swing is in a good spot, my putting and my -- every part of my game I think is pretty good.

I'm just going to play my game. I'm not going to play safe when it's time to go aggressive.

I think just play my game and be myself will be the plan.
