HUSQVARNA BRITISH MASTERS HOSTED BY SIR NICK FALDO

August 29, 2026

Patrick Reed

Sutton, Coldfield, England

The Belfry Hotel & Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. 72, looks like it's going to be enough to make the cut, but it's been such a tough day, hasn't it?

PATRICK REED: Yeah, the golf course is obviously playing wet and at times playing long because it's a little cooler today. But at the same time, you have to avoid the bunkers. Hit in too many of those, a couple of fairway bunkers today, that kind of cost me. Because of that, they're almost penalty areas.

Unfortunately today, I didn't quite have the control, I felt like, full swing-wise like I needed to. I was able to kind of get it around, and fortunately there towards the end I had a couple good looks and good opportunities. I just wasn't able to make any putts.

Q. Is that because the greens changed over the course of the day, they're getting wetter?

PATRICK REED: They're getting wetter, but at the same time, it seems like it's just a little bit of an adjustment on speed. To be honest with you, with how much rain we've had so far, I think it's holding up pretty well today.

This afternoon obviously, as this type of grass grows throughout the day, it gets a little more bumpy, but at the same time, being as wet as it is and guys walking on it, there's going to be some wobble in it.

You just have to accept that and know that some good putts aren't going to go in, but at the same time, you might get lucky and not have a great putt and it might go in.

Q. How pleased are you to have stuck it out and to have made it through to the next round past the cut. I can't say through the weekend or where this competition is going to end up in terms of how many rounds played, but you must be pretty pleased with the grit you showed out there?

PATRICK REED: Yeah, I think it was just one of those days. I didn't hit it very well, and because of that, it was playing a little tough out there. Especially it seemed like it started dumping when we hit that 7, 8, 9 stretch, which is not a fun part of the golf course to play.

Two days ago -- that would have been my last round. Two days ago on 8, on the same tee box, 3-wood, 7-iron to the green. Today my entire group -- I don't carry a 5-wood, but it was a driver, 2-iron, and they're hitting wood in.

You have areas like that, that depending on what the weather does, this golf course is going to play hard, and you have to go get through those holes. I felt like we were able to grind it through.

We'll have to wait and see. There's some guys out there still at 1-under that could actually get it to change, but who knows?
