Quick Quotes
Q. Must be up there with one of the longer Round 1s you've had. Can you talk us through your first round of the Husqvarna British Masters?
ELVIRA NACHO: Yeah, definitely, we were supposed to start at 8.40, and we finish at 10.00, 9.30 the day after. What can we do? We cannot control weather.
I think on the other hand, I think we've been very lucky because even though it rained a lot yesterday, when we started playing, the weather today was perfect. No wind. It was wetter, so the greens were softer. I think it was easier to play. I think on the other hand, we got kind of lucky.
Q. What do you think was the best part of your game out there over the course of the round?
ELVIRA NACHO: Definitely the driver. I would say this course my kryptonite. I have always struggled on this course. I struggled off the tee.
This round was unbelievable. I think I was in the fairway in play on every single shot today, and that was the key in order to hit the pin in a good position and be able to give myself some chances.
Q. You were on a run of three birdies last night when the weather stopped play. How frustrating was it to have to come off the course then?
ELVIRA NACHO: No, not really. I wanted to go to bed to be honest. It was a long day, and I think I picked up really well because I birdied 13. I managed to make a couple more birdies.
It is what it is.
Q. You mentioned the birdies today. You obviously managed to reset well. How proud of you, given all the stops, to be bogey-free throughout the round?
ELVIRA NACHO: My mindset is it is what it is. We cannot control the weather. Sometimes we are lucky and sometimes we are not. I think my caddie, we did a pretty good job to try to stay in the present and not think too much about it.
Q. You'll start Round 2 later on today, weather permitting, what will you do to prepare for that?
ELVIRA NACHO: Have the second breakfast of the day, and I'll probably go to the gym a little bit and try to waste some time.
