Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Anna Huang after her first round here at the FM Championship. Obviously a very nice bounceback after a bit of a slow start. Take us through the round and maybe talk about that stretch, 10, 11, 12.
ANNA HUANG: Yeah, I think it was a bit of a struggle off the start. I don't know if I was just tired or a bit nervous, but I managed to get loose and kind of get my game back together.
Then I had a couple really good holes on the back. I hit driver off the deck on 12 to make eagle and hit it to like three feet. I am really glad the risk was worth the reward -- or the -- no, the reward was worth the risk. Yeah.
Q. Is driver off the deck something you usually work into your game or something that was a spur-of-the-moment decision?
ANNA HUANG: I do it sometimes. I think it really depends on the lie I get and the distance, so kind of worked hard out for me today.
So, yeah.
Q. And then coming off obviously a great finish at CPKC in Canada last week; got to play your way into this event as well. What do you takeaway from a strong week like that?
ANNA HUANG: Yeah, definitely gives me a lot of confidence coming into this week. I've had a pretty good stretch of golf recently, so I feel like my game is in a good spot right now and I just need to be more confident over each shot.
Q. And I know we kind of joked about it coming in, but another top 10 this week would get you into the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship. How much of a goal is it for you to keep top 10ing and continue to keep playing on the LPGA Tour?
ANNA HUANG: Yeah, I think any top 10 is good, especially on the LPGA. I think this just shows that I'm capable of playing on the highest level, even if I'm an LET player.
So, yeah, just going to give me a lot of confidence going into the future.
Q. Sort of a similar question to that, this field is so stacked, so many of the top 25 players of the world in this field. To be playing in a competitive field like that and to be performing the way did you today, what does that do for your confidence level to be competing at this level?
ANNA HUANG: Yeah, I think I just try to take it one shot at a time, especially after my rough start today.
I think my game started coming back together and then I just kind of found my rhythm.
Q. How many times have you practiced this course? Was there anything that surprised you about the course today?
ANNA HUANG: Honestly only played each nine once, so couple places I didn't know existed that I went into today.
Yeah, I think if you're able to hit the fairways and hit the middle the green, you'll manage this course pretty well.
Q. Any holes you liked or disliked the most?
ANNA HUANG: I didn't love hole two today because I hit it in the water. I liked hole 12 because I eagled, so made up for it.
Q. What do you take from a this round heading into the rest of week?
ANNA HUANG: I think my game is in a really good spot. Last week I struggled a lot with my putting, especially on the second and third round, and today that wasn't a problem at all.
I think if I continue to putt look I did today then I'm going to be in a good spot.
