FM CHAMPIONSHIP

August 27, 2026

Lottie Woad

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

TPC Boston

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Lottie Woad after her first round at the FM Championship. Very solid bogey-free round from you today. A little more scoring opportunities on the front than the back. What were some of the differences?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think I generally played a bit better on the front nine. I hit pretty much every fairway. The rough is pretty thick out there, so you need to hit the fairways.

Hit some pretty close shots on some holes and then did well on the par-5s getting on greens, so just kind of had tap-ins on the front nine.

Q. Yeah. How did the game feel today? Obviously got see the course a little bit last year, but how did the game feel through the first round?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, overall felt pretty good. There was a few sneaky pins out there that you had to play away from, but overall tried to be pretty aggressive.

Just a couple tee shots on the back nine that missed the fairway kind of made them par holes rather than birdie holes, so just try and clean up that tomorrow.

Q. Like you said, you only hit nine of 14 fairways. What was the key to recovering from those missed fairways?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I just played pretty smart when I missed the fairway. I was just aiming for the middle of the greens, and when I did miss the greens I had pretty easy chips or putts from the fringe, so there wasn't really not much stress.

Q. Hi, Lottie. What was biggest challenge out there for you today and what was the best part of the day for you?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think my wedge play approach shots were pretty good. Had a lot of kind of, on the front nine at least, getting inside five, six feet.

Challenge-wise I think from the tee shots on the back nine I missed the fairway in some pretty thicker lies, so that made it more difficult.

The wind was kind of swirling a little bit through the trees so had to keep on eye on that.

Q. Between last year and this year, I wasn't here for the first day last year, can you give me a sense of what the crowd difference was? Was it a bigger crowd this year with you?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think so, yes. We were playing pretty early so I'm sure tomorrow afternoon there will be more people. Yeah, we had a decent crowd following us. It helps when you play with Jeeno and Charley. Always going to get some good crowds.
