Q. Give us a little bit of your thoughts about how excited you are for the week.

SIR NICK FALDO: Very, hopefully bigger and better, knew sponsor, Husqvarna. As you can see, it's all looking very cool out there. Obviously the fairways are cut beautifully with the automated robots. Very clever stuff, isn't it.

And we have a few bigger and better players in the field. Obviously delighted that we are book-ending Ryder Cup points. That's absolutely fantastic for the event.

Q. It's the 23rd time, I believe, that the Belfry has hosted a DP World Tour event alongside the Ryder Cups, and obviously you have some memories here. Talk to us a little bit about the magic of this venue in that respect.

SIR NICK FALDO: I was here when they first Opened the darn thing way back when the trees were that high and that thin. So that's the big difference.

But of course the Ryder Cups: '85 was huge for that win and obviously the tie. I was here for the tie in '89. What was the next one, the '93 one, as well? Did a stint here, and -- no, it's a great venue for the Ryder Cup. Great atmosphere. You know, everything is so contained, so when your match -- when you have just four matches moving around the golf course, you can feel the vibes from the other matches. That's all part of the Ryder Cup, isn't it.

Yeah, got some great memories of bashing away with Woosie and Monty here. It was good fun.

Q. This is the third year the Guide Dogs have been part of the official charity. Talk about what that partnership means to you.

SIR NICK FALDO: It was Lindsay, my wife's idea. She does a lot of work in America for helping animals and what have you, and obviously we have five dogs at home and she introduced me to a lot of dogs. Then we heard about the Guide Dogs and how important they are, and the training is a lot more expensive than people realise. It's like 40,000 to train up a dog.

We thought, well, let's try and make an effort to make a few more. It's a much-needed thing. They are so important, because the dogs are so clever, helping somebody else's life. They are their eyes, and in a way, more than that, emotion, as well, I should imagine.

Yeah, I'm delighted still around, everybody loves having the puppies around. I hope they do well. The players can make some birdies or hole-in-one or whatever, and we can raise some good money for them.

Q. I believe it's 50 years since you turned pro. How do you reflect on your golfing journey and how is the game now?

SIR NICK FALDO: It happened in a flash, literally now, 50. Yeah, I turned pro April 14, 1976 and actually played my first Open at Birkdale. So only about my fourth tournament, I won the qualifying to get in to that, and then gosh, here we are. Time's kind of flown the last 30-odd years. So think that what I was doing when I was 30, won my first Open at 30, jeepers, that's 40 years ago, nearly.

So yeah, I've been blessed. I was a kid at 15 and made a decision, I wanted to be a pro golfer. So how cool is that?
