St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Bellerive Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Tough finish, but I imagine you feel good about the four days.

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, pretty happy. I was kind of, all over the place throughout the week. Didn't hit many fairways, made some mistakes with some irons. Look, this week was, one, trying to win, but, two, also trying to build momentum, make Presidents Cup, we'll see how I figure out on that in those rankings. But, yeah, really happy. Kind of just how I grinded throughout the week.

Q. Looks like you're going to finish in the 6th spot. So to not have to rely on a captain's pick, to get that done, how do you feel?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: You never know. Snedeker has told us all year, if you're not top 6, anything is on the table. This is the time where you really want to play well. Watching Cantlay, he always plays well at BMW. It's just something. I've had, I think, pretty poor results at this tournament, and it was kind of nice to just put up four good rounds and come through with a nice finish. Yeah, hopefully we can build off that into next week. I feel like the last few years I've kind of had poor results at BMW, showed up at East Lake and just said, All to the wall, and see what happens, and hopefully we can build something.

Q. Will you keep that mindset then?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, yeah, you're going to have to. Everyone starts at even, go out, see what happens, and but pretty happy with how this week played out.

Q. Playing with Gary, what, how was that to watch him knowing what he's going through?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Gary's one of the first pros I got to kind of talk to and meet, just being out of the same agency. I don't think people realize how good of a guy he is. Like, down to earth. And to see what he's gone through, you can hear the people out there cheering for him. I played behind him all week the first two days, and just hearing that support, I know that for him is awesome. But it all starts with the people around him, the team around him, Gabby, his kids. I felt like it was a very comfortable pairing for me and him. Made a couple mistakes out there between the two of us. I thought we had a really good kind of momentum and were able to build off each other through the little gaps.

Q. He was talking about how he has no idea how that top happened.

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I don't know either. I was shocked (laughing). Like, that's something you laugh at after the fact. But in the moment I think he handled it really well. I don't know what to say about that. It's pretty shocking.

Q. Looks like Wyndham's going to take this thing. What have you noticed different about him in the last year or so?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I spent a lot of time around Wyndham two years ago, we were on the Olympic team together, we were both playing fairly well. When he's playing well, the confidence is through the roof. I think he rolls the ball better than most guys, especially when he's on. Like, he's obviously switched putters here and there, but when he's rolling it, I mean it is end over end and they're center cup. I watched the putt on 17, like, it is, it just looks in. I think when you pair that with the power that he has, it's just hard to compete sometimes. I'm going to finish four back. Like, I feel like I've got so much more in me. It's going to be a fun off-season. I know it's tough to wait sometimes, but for me the way I felt at the beginning of this year when I was healthy, like I feel like I can go on a run, so see what I can give and it will be a good off season.
