Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: Annika Sorenstam, I know not the finish you wanted, but another solid week and a week with your family here at the U.S. Senior Women's Open.
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: It's been a great week in so many ways. The club has been fantastic. The golf course has been wonderful and a good challenge, and obviously the USGA puts on a nice championship. So, you know, gave it a run. Just wasn't enough, but just happy overall how I played.
THE MODERATOR: Yeah, you're not playing much, so to be able to come out and still play this well, I'm sure there's a piece of it you can still take from that.
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: It is. I mean, I would say we're all in the same boat. So you know, congratulations to Mimmi for playing so solid today. I mean, it was quite windy. It was quite blistery there on the front. She just kind of hung in there.
Q. You put a lot of pressure all through the round, and then she just turned it around with that chip-in eagle on 9. There was really not much more you could have done.
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Just maybe the last one. I mean, it would have been nice if I could have at least put a little more pressure at least for the last one, but the eagle she had on was it 9 just kind of really kind of -- it was hard after that.
Q. Annika, it seems like there's a lot of birdies on the course, but really there weren't. The lowest round was, like, 66 this week. Is this one where you had to really grind things out, and that eagle just kind of was a little deflating out there?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: I wasn't deflated, but there's a lot of chip-on opportunities out there, but the course is also quite tricky. Even though the fairways are generous, the greens are in great shape, but they're quite undulated. Again, we don't really compete that often, so to get into tournament mode like that is not so easy.
