Quick Quotes
Q. All right here with Kiara Romero after the third round the CPKC Women's Open. Kiara, started off a little shaky at the beginning but battled back there at the end. Can you just kind of talk about just the emotions heading into this weekend and how you were able to rein it in and put together a good round on the back nine?
KIARA ROMERO: Yeah, I was definitely a little bit nervous on the first few holes. On the second hole I hit my 8-iron I think like 175-ish. That usually doesn't happen, so I was just kind of telling my brother, I'm definitely having a lot of adrenaline in me right now.
Yeah, just kind of struggled a little bit on the front nine with my ball striking, but I was really proud of myself for being able to fight back towards the end there and kind of just reground my feet out there.
Q. And up at the top of the leaderboard still heading into tomorrow. Obviously first, you know, week as a professional. Were you expecting this, to head into this week maybe in contention to win a tournament already?
KIARA ROMERO: I didn't have that as an expectation, but I definitely thought it was a possibility. You know, I didn't want to like close it down on myself.
But I'm honestly just trying to be out here just enjoying it and just learning as much as possible for it being my first pro tournament.
Q. And then what have you learned as a professional compared to amateur just through the short week so far?
KIARA ROMERO: I think just staying patient out there. Obviously I think from amateur golf I'm not used to playing four rounds in one tournament, and so you can come off to a hot start but you kind of got to carry that through for three for days after that.
So I think just staying patient and just sticking with your game plan and trusting the process throughout the whole week.
Q. One cool moment on 17 as well. Got to put on the Edmonton Oilers Wayne Gretzky jersey. Can you just kind of talk about that just how unique that experience is here in Canada with the rink hole?
KIARA ROMERO: It kind of reminds me of the Waste Management 16th hole, the par-3. Yeah, just having like that whole crowd around it, it's really cool just having a lot of fans out there cheering us on.
Just kind of shows the growth of women's golf, which is really cool.
