Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Brooke Henderson after the third round of the CPKC Women's Open. Brooke, got off to a shaky start early and then battled back on the back nine. Can you just kind of talk about the atmosphere out here and how the fans kind of willed you back into this round a little bit it seemed like?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, for sure. The fans were incredible. They have been all week and they were today, too. It's really fun and a really amazing opportunity to be able to play in front of them.
Honestly I feel like I didn't get out of my round what I really should have. I hit 16 greens and gave myself a lot of good looks, so it's disappointing to only shoot 2-under.
In the same breath, I'm really grateful for those three birdies on the back nine to kind of get myself back into it.
Q. When you hit that many greens and are maybe not getting rewarded like you were hoping, how do you stay mentally inside and just know that birdies are coming?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I mean, it's tough. In the middle stretch there I was disappointed for sure, so just tried to rebound, tried to stay patient, tried to continue just to give myself a lot of good looks, and hoping that they would start to fall.
Q. Brooke, you said you wanted more out of this round. Can you just nail down exactly what you wanted more of?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I mean, honestly I think it just came down to a few putts. I missed quite a few inside six feet today honestly which I haven't been doing, so it was a little bit unusual. So might hit a few putts here after the round just to get a feel for it again.
But, yeah, I feel like I gave myself a lot of good looks. That's all you can ask for. Hopefully I'll do the same tomorrow but make the putts.
Q. When Miyu has the kind of lead that she has, when you look at that, do you find that daunting or do you see that as this is a challenge for me?
BROOKE HENDERSON: I think at this point she's playing really well and she has a substantial lead on most everybody, so at this point I'm just trying to get a really good finish for myself.
So seeing if I can go low tomorrow just so I can feel really good about how I played the last four days tomorrow afternoon. So just trying to focus on myself and seeing what I can do.
Q. How do you get to that mindset? Is it kind of like almost free and easy now, just go for it?
BROOKE HENDERSON: A little bit. I mean, I think this course you can never be too free and easy because it can jump up and bite you pretty quick. It's pretty tight out there at times.
So I think just kind of sticking to the strategy, but when you have opportunities, just trying to make the most of them.
Q. How do you feel after three rounds? Are you disappointed? Are you happy? Where you at?
BROOKE HENDERSON: I'm kind of both those things I think. I'm grateful to be playing the weekend. Grateful for these crowds and to be playing at home in Canada.
A little disappointed that I didn't get more out of the last couple rounds. Feel like I've been really close; just didn't really turn it over.
But one more day, so we'll see if we can do it.
Q. Can I ask you about Aphrodite Deng and what she was able to accomplish today for just being a kid.
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, for sure. I saw her name up there on the leaderboard. She's pretty impressive. She's been playing great the last two years for sure. Even earlier this year at the U.S. Open I know she had a really good finish as well.
So, yeah, it's been impressive to watch.
