U.S. SENIOR WOMEN'S OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

August 20, 2026

Becky Morgan

Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Barton Hills Country Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Here with Becky Morgan, 1-under 71. Becky, defending champion. You've been here all week going through the protocols of being the defending champion. How ready were you for the competition part this morning?

BECKY MORGAN: Yeah, I mean, I was excited to get going. It's really cool being announced as the defending champion on the first tee, but I actually felt really calm.

Honestly, other than one hole today, I felt really good about everything that was happening. So pretty positive about everything.

THE MODERATOR: 15 pars, two birdies, and then you mentioned that one miscue. What was the strongest part of your game today?

BECKY MORGAN: Just distance control. I hit my driver really well. I think I missed one fairway. Just hit it into the correct part of most of the greens and sort of tried to leave myself the easier putt. Obviously there are some tricky putts out there. I was pretty happy with where I positioned it on the greens.

THE MODERATOR: One of the few in red figures here early on. How much confidence is this going to give you going into tomorrow and ultimately into the weekend?

BECKY MORGAN: Good. Earlier in the week the ball striking was not how I wanted it, and obviously today was way better. So I like the course. I think it's a lot of strategy, which is kind of how I play the game, so I'm looking forward to it.
