U.S. SENIOR WOMEN'S OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

August 19, 2026

Juli Inkster

Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Barton Hills Country Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Please welcome to the interview area five-time USGA champion and World Golf Hall of Famer Julie Inkster. Julie, you've played in a lot of these championships before. What's your favorite part about coming to these events on the U.S. Senior Women's Open?

JULI INKSTER: First of all, it's been amazing venues that we've played. You know, just having a chance to win another USGA trophy would be amazing. Being able to say I've won five is incredible, but I love coming back. They always challenge your golf.

I still like to compete, but I don't like to compete every week. So it's just kind of nice to be able to play the last couple of weeks and then after this hang them up for a while.

THE MODERATOR: Last day of practice rounds today. What are your initial impressions of the course that you've seen and the test that you and the other players are going to face this week at Barton Hills?

JULI INKSTER: I think the course is going to win. It's a tough golf course. Off the tee it's pretty forgiving, but from there on, it's legit. It's going to be tough.

You're going to have to be precise with your irons, but also be a little conservative. Lag putting is going to be a big thing this week. You're going to have a lot of 4-, 5-footers for pars. So I think it's going to be a good test.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. What keeps the fire burning in you?

JULI INKSTER: You know, it's not really a fire. I mean, I just enjoy competing. I still feel healthy. I'm playing against 50-year-olds. They're a little more limber than me, but you know, I enjoy the game.

I feel like I'm still able to hit the ball fairly well and play okay. You know, I just enjoy competing.

Q. I want to know what you thought of the about the Big House last night.

JULI INKSTER: It's cool. It's impressive. I was able to go to the Ohio State one two years ago, too. Coming from San Jose State where no one shows up, it's amazing that they can pack all those people in for a football game.

Q. Did you recruit Beanie over there? Tell us about your leg, to do a little video.

JULI INKSTER: I don't know if I can say it. It's the fantasy -- Shithead Fantasy Football League, and it's a bunch of women at Tradition. Last year just on a whim I said, Hey, would anybody want to do a fantasy football, and they all said, yes.

So last year was our first year. The three losers had to do a lip sync, get dressed up, to do Dua Lipa. I was one of them. It was hysterical. So it's a lot of fun.

These ladies are totally into football now, and it's great. I'm going to recruit her right here, so stay right there. Yeah.

Q. (Off microphone.)

JULI INKSTER: Yeah, we do. Stay right there, okay?

Q. (Off microphone.)

JULI INKSTER: We got 12 women in our league, yeah.

Q. (Off microphone.)

JULI INKSTER: Everybody puts in 100 bucks. It's not really the win. It's the people that lose. But we have a big party at the end, and it's fun, so...

Q. (Off microphone). What's the best advice for Angela?

JULI INKSTER: Just be yourself. Really I think she's very well prepared. She kind of knows what she wants to do. It's going to be a new, young team. I think you just got to let them go out there and do their thing.

Q. (Off microphone), or did you go right down to the next person?

JULI INKSTER: No, I went with someone that I thought had experience because my team was very young. So I put someone with a little more experience in there.
