CPKC WOMEN'S OPEN

August 18, 2026

Anna Huang

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Royal Mayfair Golf Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: All right, we would like to welcome Anna Huang ahead of the 2026 CPKC Women's Open. First, Anna, heading into your third CPKC Women's Open, what does it mean for you to be back here and out there in front of fellow Canadians?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, means so much. I love being home. And just the Canadian spirit has been really great the past few years, so I'm really excited to tee it up this week.

Q. And then also you were recently the youngest player to win four Ladies European Tour titles. Can you talk us through the state of your game right now?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, I think my game is in a pretty good spot right now. I've worked really hard this year to get where I am, and I'm just really excited to play amongst the best in the world.

Q. What's it like to beat Charley Hull, sixth ranked player in the world in a golf tournament?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, it was a really cool moment to play with Charley in the final two days, and also to beat her was really nice. Yeah, there was a lot of British crowds out there cheering for Charley; not as many for me. I had a really great time and tried to stay in my zone.

Q. You won four times on the European Tour. Do you think you should have an LPGA card by now?

ANNA HUANG: You know, I think every LPGA member has earned their spot onto the LPGA. Everyone has worked really hard to get where they are. If I keep doing the same, I think then this year, at the end of the year I'm going to play Q-School, and if things work out then I will get my card.

Q. Just following in the footsteps of Brooke Henderson, was she an idol of yours growing up like most Canadian young golfers?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, definitely. I think I watched Brooke play the Canadian Open back in I think 2016. I really look up to her. She's definitely been my idol growing up, so, yeah.

Q. One last question: What do you do for school when you're already a golf pro?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, so I do online school. I'm heading into my senior year in a couple weeks, so I'll finish up high school and see how things go from there.

Q. Congratulations on your successes this summer. Winning a professional golf event is not easy. For you to be able to have done it twice, is it the classic combination of you're playing well and getting the good breaks and mentally dialed in and playing really good golf at the same time? How would you describe how you've been able to win twice this year?

ANNA HUANG: I think it's a mix of everything: Lots of hard work, determination, self-belief, and also having enough rest in. And also support from my family and my team.

I think that's really important to have a really good support system and it sets you up for the best.

Q. This particular week may be the first week that you're going to be playing in front of a Canadian crowd where a lot of people know who you are. Have you been able to wrap your head around the fact about how just cool this week may be for you?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, I've gotten recognized a lot more than I thought I would. Yeah, it's been really cool to see a lot of fans cheering for me this week. I'm just really excited.

Q. How would you describe the course? It's got a lot of rain lately, so how is it playing?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, honestly the course is in really good condition considering the weather you guys have gotten the past few months. There is a lot of mosquitoes out here, so that's the only thing to be aware of.

The rough is thick. The greens are nice and fast. Just a really typical Canadian course that you would play, so just really fun.

Q. What would make you happy here this week in Edmonton?

ANNA HUANG: I think just making Canada proud and also my family. I think I worked really hard this year to get where I am, and maybe another good week here would help just with my ranking and with my confidence.

Q. When you are 12 years old in Vancouver did you think you would be a golf pro?

ANNA HUANG: Probably not. (Smiling.)

Q. Why? You started playing much earlier than 12.

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, I think when I was 12 I was more focused on school and friends and whatnot. I think once I got a little older probably just into high school that's when I started taking golf a lot more seriously. I was considering the college route to go DI or to turn pro early.

Q. How difficult was that? Did you have to talk it over with your parents when you wanted to turn pro at such a young age?

ANNA HUANG: Yeah, for sure. There was a lot of conversations about it. I talked with my Team Canada coaches, with my family and parents, and I think we all came to the conclusion that as a young golfer you don't get many opportunities in life to turn pro, so I just took advantage of the opportunity I had.

Q. One last one: Seems like unlike necessarily the men's tour, women can win on this tour very young. Why do you think that is? Lydia Ko was very young. Brooke wasn't very old. You're not very old. Why do you think that is?

ANNA HUANG: I think girls just mature a lot faster than guys do. I think we have a really positive mindset on the golf course and so I think that really helps younger girls get big wins earlier.

So, yeah.

THE MODERATOR: All right, thanks for your time, Anna.

ANNA HUANG: Thank you.
