Quick Quotes
Q. Out early in the morning, good start to your morning with birdies. How did you feel about your second round?
SUNGJAE IM: I got off to a good start with three birdies in a row. I was 5-under on the front nine, so I felt comfortable and had a good momentum.
I had two bogeys on the back nine, which was a little disappointing, but I finished 4-under, same as yesterday. So I’m happy with my round today.
Q. You talked about kind of yesterday, the pressure of trying to make it for next week. What's the key for this weekend?
SUNGJAE IM: Of course, there is some pressure this week, but I just want to focus on each shot and keep doing that through the weekend.
Q. You had a great start on the front nine. Any birdies that stick out from today in particular?
SUNGJAE IM: I made a lot of birdies on the front nine, so it was a really good start.
Q. At the end there, after a bogey, bounced back with a birdie. What was the key to the closing stretch there?
SUNGJAE IM: I made a bogey, but came back with a birdie. Then I three-putted on 17, which was a little disappointing.
Q. It's been exhausting here in the heat. What are you doing the rest of the afternoon to prepare?
SUNGJAE IM: It’s really hot this week, so I’m not going to practice too much, but there are a few things I want to work on from today. I’ll practice a little bit, get some rest, and try to stay focused through the weekend.
Q. Sungjae, did you feel pressure coming here, and if so, what was your attitude? Given your standings at 53rd.
SUNGJAE IM: I know where I am in the standings, but I don’t want to think about it too much.
I think it’s more important to focus on each shot and do my best. If I keep doing that, hopefully the result will take care of itself.
