FEDEX ST. JUDE CHAMPIONSHIP

August 14, 2026

Tommy Fleetwood

Memphis, Tennessee, USA

TPC Southwind

Quick Quotes

Q. Tommy, how would you assess your position heading into the weekend?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, very good. You can't ask for much more than fourth place or top five, whatever it is. I feel like I've been really good off the tee and then managed the rest well.

So yes, it's a demanding golf course in that sense. Happy really. I feel like I played a very patient round of golf today. It's just nice to be going into the weekend in a good position.

Q. Any differences with how that course played today versus what you guys saw yesterday?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I think the greens -- when the green -- later in the day, the more grain plays on the greens, I think they -- I definitely found them trickier to read this afternoon than they were yesterday morning, for instance.

Yeah, still a beautiful surface. You've just got to get the line right and hit it. I'll do a bit of practice on that later. In general, yeah, the ball goes a long way and the afternoon gets hot. But the golf course is right in front of you, and the demands are always the same.

Q. Zero bogeys today. How important is consistency, as you mentioned, on this very challenging golf course?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: That's always helpful because whatever you do -- I only made two birdies. You'd always like more birdies, right?

I think, especially around here, to not drop a shot so to never be moving backwards, to always have an opportunity to move forward is great and really, really important. Never underestimate that really.

I might not have hit my irons the way I wanted to or played quite as well or converted some of the birdie chances, but to go bogey-free, you should be very happy with yourself. Definitely I look at the positives of that and take that into the weekend.

Q. You're in position for a good weekend push here in Memphis. What's going to be the key for you this weekend?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I shot 4-under yesterday. I actually feel like my swing started to feel better today. So just gradually keep improving that throughout the week.

Yeah, just go play golf. Continue to put the ball in play. I've been very comfortable off the tee. If I do that, I feel like there will be opportunities out there if I continue to try and hit it sort of a little bit more consistently with my irons and figure those greens out and roll some in, and we'll see what happens.

Q. Looks like Scottie is going to be the guy to beat heading into the weekend. How does the challenge change when he's the name you're trying to chase down?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: It's so cliche to say you can't do anything about it, isn't it? It's sort of a boring answer, but what can we do about Scottie Scheffler? Just go out there and try to manage your game as best as possible. Shoot the best score you can and see what happens.

I think in general in the world of golf Scottie is a great person to chase, whether it's a tournament this week or he's the best golfer in the world, and you can all look up to him and try to chase him. He just happens to be up there again, and we'll see what we can do over the weekend.
