Quick Quotes
Q. Second round 64. What did you like about your day today? Bogey-free.
VIKTOR HOVLAND: It was really nice, really solid. Hit a lot of fairways, and I think that's a big deal for my game, but also especially at this golf course. I think it's really difficult to score if you're missing fairways. So I did a good job of that, put myself in position.
Didn't hit my iron shots super close, but I always hit the green, and I made a couple of nice putts. Then yeah, just felt really solid throughout the day.
Q. From the nice putts, any of the par saves or birdies stick out from today?
VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah, I hit two nice par saves. I hit actually two good shots on No. 8 and No. 12 that were right at the pin, but somehow they went too far and just went over the green, but two really nice up-and-downs there, kind of kept the momentum going.
Other than that, it was pretty solid tee to green.
Q. You always talk about your swing. Where do you feel like you are at this point in the year?
VIKTOR HOVLAND: It's trending for sure. I've been really battling high right miss shot, and at least that's not -- like I'm not seeing any of those shots. I'm still over curving the ball a little bit to the right. So I feel like I'm having to fight that a little bit, but it's been working out so far. Hopefully just keep that going over the weekend.
Q. You kind of mentioned bogey-free today. What was the biggest difference going back from yesterday into today.
VIKTOR HOVLAND: Felt like very similar rounds to be honest. Played nice yesterday.
It was just unfortunate I hit a terrible tee shot on 15 yesterday and had a rough lie. I probably should have just laid it up, but I felt like I had something that I could hit it just long left and try to make an up-and-down, and then it went in the water and made double bogey.
Then I hit a bad wedge shot from the middle of the fairway on 9 yesterday and made bogey there.
So it felt like it was actually two very similar rounds. It's just kind of didn't make those silly mistakes today.
Q. Another chance to have a weekend in contention in Memphis. How do you think this course in general just fits your game so well?
VIKTOR HOVLAND: Especially when I'm playing well and I know where the ball's going and I can put the ball in the fairways, I can take advantage of my iron game. This week I've been putting quite nicely, and my short game's been really good. So that definitely helps.
But if I'm hitting the ball well here, I feel like I'm just going to have a lot of opportunities for birdie.
Q. Dealing with this heat, especially in the afternoon tee time, what's your plan to kind of recover from the heat?
VIKTOR HOVLAND: I'm going to go in the cold plunge for a little bit, just try to relax and get out of the heat. Stay in the cool temperature, in the AC at home, and just relax.
It definitely takes a toll being out here for five, six hours.
