TV Quick Quotes
Q. Asterisk, you've been so close to winning this championship; a runner-up back in 2024. It was a dominant performance today. Nine birdies and an eagle in this championship match. What allowed you to be so strong today?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I think just the power of God really. I mean, He was with me throughout this whole championship. And I knew I had to come out strong today in the morning match and then come out strong in this afternoon match to really get it done.
I didn't really want it to get too close toward the end, so I was just trying to play my best golf all day.
Q. Where was the strongest part of your game?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I think the tee balls were really good today. I hit pretty much every fairway. I think I was just really consistent. I only had one bogey, so I think I was just kind of eliminating mistakes out there.
Q. This was the fifth day in a row of storm delays. What was the most difficult challenge to be able to sustain your energy?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I think just staying calm. Sometimes you can overthink a little bit or get a little stressed during that. I think just staying calm and knowing it was the right timing throughout the whole thing really kept us calm and good.
Q. You're now 11-2 at the U.S. Women's Amateur. 24-6 in you USGA championships. Why are you so good in match play?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I don't know. I just think it's a lot of fun. I think the elements are really good. I mean, when you only have to play against one player and you're playing the same conditions the whole time you don't really have to worry about anyone else. I think it's better to stay in the moment.
Q. What does this validate for your career?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I think it pretty much completes my amateur career. I mean, this is one of the biggest events to ever win, so I think this is just going to be the top of my list from now on.
Q. You had your dad, Jim, on the bag. You have some family friends out here. What's the most special part about your dad on the bag this week?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, just he really tried to get up and ready for this event to try and be on the bag, so it was really special to have him by my side the whole time and just be able to talk through every shot. So it was really special.
And to the people who came out, I'm really grateful they were able to make it out this week. It was a long trip.
But, yeah, just to everyone who came out here this week and who is watching right now and watching back home I'm really thankful for.
Q. Jim, get in there and hold the trophy with Asterisk. (Applause.)
