OMNIUM BANQUE NATIONALE

August 8, 2026

Luciano Darderi

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Mixed Zone

L. DARDERI/N. Borges

4-6, 6-3, 7-5

Q. When you think about what's been working best for you this week, what really stands out?

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yeah. I think the confidence, no? At the beginning of the week it was not the same, but after the match with Diallo and the next match, that gave me confidence.

Q. What's allowed you to get that confidence beyond just the match results?

LUCIANO DARDERI: For sure, I win the matches, no? That gives me confidence. And the serves, return.

And, of course, the balls are different than the clay.

Q. You seem to have a lot of fun up there with the Montreal crowd. How did it feel to play on that center court?

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yeah. It's good. It feels good. There is a lot of people that are Italian, I think. I was focused on playing, but I think the crowd helped out today. So I tried to play with them.

Q. Luciano, I think it's your best result on hard surface this year. Could you explain that, because there was couple tough results for the start of the hard surface. How can you explain this success?

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yeah. I think at the beginning of the year I play also very good often. Australia, making the results against Jannik. I was playing really, really good tennis there.

For sure, after that we started clay again, and then clay season. So now we are coming back on the hard. But feeling good, feeling great.

I think playing better every match. Match by match I was playing good, and today was a really good fight.

Q. You're the first player to reach ten quarterfinals this season on the ATP tour. What does that tell about your game and your season?

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yeah. I think I really play good and on all the surface now. I'm playing good everywhere.

Q. What does 30 wins in a season, early August, signify to you?

LUCIANO DARDERI: Confidence, no? I would say before, pretty good and on this surface. That's why now I pick up a little bit. But I just try to play match by match, tournament by tournament. I like to play a lot. I like to play a lot of tournaments.

Q. When you think back to the start of the year and even midway point in the year, is there an area of your game that's really improved more, would you say?

LUCIANO DARDERI: Yeah, I think mentally. Mentally improved a lot on what's going to happen when I am done.

The last two matches I was a set down and then I think I always keep believing and keep fighting and then basically I pull through.

So I can play two and three sets. So feeling good physically, and today also it was good.
