LIV GOLF NEW YORK

August 8, 2026

Harold Varner

Bedminster, New Jersey, USA

Trump National Golf Club Bedminster

OKGC

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Harold Varner III, OKGC, welcome to the media center. Well played today, 6-under, currently sit in second place, two back of the leader entering Sunday. Take us through today's round, how you felt out there.

HAROLD VARNER III: Obviously felt pretty well. Started off really well. Shot 4-under on the front. Did a good job during the delay. Also didn't get to warm up but came out and chipped in for birdie, so I think today was a good day. I guess the score does all the talking, which is great.

Q. You won at Trump National D.C. a few years ago. You obviously set yourself up for a potential strong finish again. What about these courses do you think either raises the level of play or provides such a strong test for you and others out there?

HAROLD VARNER III: I think they're all pretty similar. You have to hit it far, and you have to putt it well. You have to chip it decent.

Yeah, obviously it suits my game. It's playing really long right now. Obviously it's -- I don't know how long it is, but it's an advantage for me. It's a great opportunity to do something well.

I feel like I've been playing well, and tomorrow is going to be a great chance.

Q. Harold, I was curious, you're 12-under, the rest of the team is 35 over. Are they playing with a different yardage book than you are?

HAROLD VARNER III: I think it's a team when we're playing well; I think it's a team when we're playing bad. I'm a part of the team.

Q. You've been trending well, obviously. Is there anything that's kind of flipped in the last couple months?

HAROLD VARNER III: I think I've been playing well for a while since Mexico. Had some pretty good tournaments -- Hong Kong, yeah. So I think I've been playing well, just not getting in there really good where I have a good chance to win. But that's golf. I just keep working at it. I feel like life is in a good spot, two kids running around. I don't have to feed one anymore, so it's great.

Q. So you have more energy is what you're saying?

HAROLD VARNER III: Yeah, you'd better have some energy around those two, so you're screwed.

Q. Beginning in the UK, your putter started to get really hot, and it's happening again this week. You're sixth in strokes gained putting. Is it the grass type, is it the greens, or is it just technique or is it just the putts are now going in?

HAROLD VARNER III: I think it's paying attention to detail. I think I'm working pretty well. What I'm doing on my putting, I think it's working. I think the face is stabilizing, which is, I guess, very important, according to the people that teach you how to putt.

Yeah, my pace is good, and just doing a good job of just staying in it. You're never out.

I really love all the noise because when there's a lot of chaos, I feel like I'm really well. I just go do my job. Playing good golf takes care of everything.

Q. I wanted to ask you a little bit about the buzz going around the golf world right now. Do you feel like this tour has made an impact in the world in golf and done some great things for it? Can you expand on that just a little bit?

HAROLD VARNER III: I think I can speak for myself. I think it's one of the greatest things that's ever happened to me. I think everyone knows where I stand on why I play golf. For myself personally, it's been a blessing to be able to do things, have time with my kids, the things we get to do with my kids and my family.

I would hope everyone would take it as an opportunity and not worry about all the negative stuff. I think we're getting really good at worrying about what could go wrong or this or that and not appreciating the good stuff that we did have or what we do have right in front of us.

At the end of the day, no one is going to die. It's golf. There's people dealing with way more important things in life that I think are way more important. So with all that stuff you're talking about, I think it's important when you're writing, but it's not important to what I do every day and what I love to do, and that's go try to shoot as low as I can every day.
