OMNIUM BANQUE NATIONALE

August 7, 2026

Tallon Griekspoor

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Mixed Zone

T. GRIEKSPOOR/M. Arnaldi

3-6, 6-4, 6-3

Q. Congratulations on the big win. Can you give us your thoughts on the match?

TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Yeah. Happy with the win, obviously. Not my best match. Was basically all about, yeah, finding a way in, finding a way through.

Never easy coming back after such a good win two days ago where I also played really high level.

Was struggling a bit with the circumstances with the balls early on, but then like I said, fought my way into it, played pretty well end of second set, beginning of third set where I felt like I made the difference. Yeah, very happy to pull it over the line.

Q. First time you got three wins in a row since February. Your best week?

TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Yeah. Like, for sure, I haven't won many matches in the last four or five months. Has been some tough times.

Been putting my head down, working hard the last couple of months, and yeah, the level has been there in practice over the last months, and it's been better and better.

It was just about time, basically, to transfer it to the match court, which I'm happy I am doing this week.

Q. The medical timeout, can you tell us what happened?

TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: I just had some problems with my back already before. So, I mean, all good after. Yeah, all good.

Q. What's it like, how do you adjust to the balls here and getting comfortable with that?

TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Very good question. I mean, I have been trying for four or five years to get used to it here. But not only here, also in Cincinnati and New York, I feel like it's a special kind of ball.

Like I said, the last couple of years, I tried it all, different strings, different tensions. Never really found it. Now seems like I've found it a bit, found the right tension, which helps me.

But, yeah, it's basically the only ball that gets smaller instead of bigger, which gets not fluffy. So it is what it is. I'm trying to make the best out of it, and I'm doing pretty well so far.

Q. Does the quote, unquote open draw help boost your confidence knowing you can line up victories now and have maybe lesser opponents?

TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: To be honest, no, not really, because I think my part of the draw, I opened it myself. So it's not somebody else opened it for me. So I think I earned it myself that way.

And I know that I'm capable of beating the best players in the world. So I do like to challenge those guys, the best in the world. Yeah, of course, the draw opens, but everybody is thinking like this, and I think it also shows the depth in men's tennis right now, that guys 50, 60 in the world, they can go deep in the big tournaments.

And that's what it is. That gives a lot of confidence to me as well. I mean, I've been here before in those situations, so just trying to work as hard as possible myself every day, put the right things together, and yeah, hopefully get some good results coming.

Q. Are you the guy to beat now?

TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think I am that guy. I hope to be that guy later in the week, but, no, there's still so many good players left, like I said.

For me, it's been Jannik and Carlos, who have been above the rest. Well, and when they are not here, you see what happens.

I think Sascha did an unbelievable good job in French Open to take advantage of it, and same in Wimbledon where he played incredibly well. But you see when he's out, a couple other guys go out. So, yeah, everything is possible for everyone.

Q. Twice now you've come back from a set down. How proud are you of yourself?

TALLON GRIEKSPOOR: Yeah. I'm very proud, especially after the last month that I've had. I've not won many matches. I've had a very, very hard time, on court, off court.

Tried to put my head down, try to see it point by point. It was far from easy today. It was a very difficult match for me.

But like I said, it was just all about finding a way, finding a way through, and all that mattered today was to win the match.

Now I got another day off to go back to the practice court, try to do things better and come out in good shape on Sunday.
