OMNIUM BANQUE NATIONALE

August 6, 2026

Alex De Minaur

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Mixed Zone

C. NORRIE/A. de Minaur

5-7, 7-6, 6-1

Q. Do you have any explanation about what happened in the third set?

ALEX de MINAUR: Yeah. It was just an awful third set for me. I had chances early, some break points. I had some love-30s. I had a 0-40. Just couldn't execute. And, yeah, definitely wasn't my best set of tennis.

Q. Was it tough to reset after the second set, or is that part of it or?

ALEX de MINAUR: Yeah. As I said, I thought I gave myself chances early in the third set, and then I just played some bad points in a row and then got behind quickly, and it all just went very quickly.

Obviously something that needs to be better from my side, but yeah.

Q. Does it feel like a missed opportunity? You were the highest seed left. Many of the top guys are not here or lost early. Does that add to the disappointment?

ALEX de MINAUR: I think it was a missed opportunity because I was up today, and I had -- obviously I was in a good position, and I had match point to finish off the match. But apart from that, I think, yeah, I wasn't paying too much attention to that.

It's tennis. As we've seen, anything can happen. It's not the easiest of conditions out here.

Yeah, I was disappointed, but I'm looking forward to what's next.

Q. You were one point away from winning that game. Would you say that double fault was a turning point or is that too easy of an explanation?

ALEX de MINAUR: Yeah. I think probably I feel I had another chance. The end of that set was tight. It was 5-5 in the breaker.

That was just one point. I think there was plenty of chances throughout the rest of that match. Of course, I would have loved to take that double fault away, but it's tennis. These things happen, and sometimes they go your way; sometimes they don't.

Q. Could you say in French the disappointment that you had today with the result?

ALEX de MINAUR: Yeah. I think we'll stick to English.

Q. Norrie kept changing his shirt to kind of break up the pace a little bit. Do you have anything to say regarding that? Was it annoying part of gamesmanship?

ALEX de MINAUR: No. I think it was very humid today. That's it. I had to change clothes after the first set as well. And, yeah, it was just humid.
