The Honors Course
Quick Quotes
ARIANNA LAU: It's a bit more humid today so the greens are a bit softer, so it's okay.
Q. Curious, I know you talked about it a little bit already, but how was the round today? I saw you had four birdies. The double bogey, but four birdies, so very clean front nine. Could you just talk about it a little bit?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, my hitting was very consistent today. I missed it in the right spots, like for the greens that I missed. But there was one mistake, like one bad hole.
Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my round. Gained a lot of confidence and also it's just really nice to learn how to like handle such a tough course, yeah.
Q. Do you feel like I guess what are your thoughts through two rounds on the course? Do you feel like it suits your game?
ARIANNA LAU: It's definitely challenging, because a lot of the holes there is not much room for error. But I am a pretty consistent player, so like when I play well it pretty suits my game.
Q. What do you feel like is the strength of your game maybe this week or just in general?
ARIANNA LAU: Usually it's my putting and also I hit it pretty straight.
Q. And then you were a quarterfinalist last year at Bandon. Do you feel like having that experience kind of going through multiple rounds of match play, making it pretty far, gives you confidence going into more match play this week?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, definitely. Like last year I was the -- I got in through a playoff and then I didn't imagine I could make it to the quarterfinals, but I just took it like step by step, like match by match, and I didn't really think ahead.
This year I won't let like last year add to my pressure. I think it's a new start, so I will just -- because match play is completely different, so I will just do my best tomorrow. Just stick to my game plan and be patient and see how far I can do.
Q. Are you a person that prefers the competitiveness of match play?
ARIANNA LAU: It's definitely fun. It's good to experience. I play stroke play more than match play but to experience both formats, I think it helps me grow stronger as a player.
Q. Definitely.
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah.
