Gabriel Diallo
THE MODERATOR: Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the press conference of Gabriel Diallo. I will ask the first question in English. Congrats, Gabriel. This is your first win in Montreal. How does it feel to win this battle in front of your home crowd?
GABRIEL DIALLO: Yeah. It feels great. First rounds are never easy, especially home. So, yeah, I'm very happy with the way I played.
More importantly, win or lose, I thought that I played aggressive, committed. I think overall it was a good match from both of us. Amazing, amazing crowd. And excited to get back there tomorrow.
THE MODERATOR: Any other English questions?
Q. Congratulations on the win today. Did you feel like there was a little bit more pressure playing your first match at this tournament, especially on your home court? Did you feel like there was more pressure playing at home in Montreal since it was you trying to get your first win here in your home city?
GABRIEL DIALLO: Yeah. I think it's a mix of both. Obviously I haven't had the year that I want. So I think that in a way it kind of helped me to manage the expectation, because I haven't won a lot this year. I've been through some difficult moments.
So I put a lot of emphasis this week on just, you know, enjoying. Every time I turn my head I see someone that I know from the neighborhood or from the facility or from Tennis Canada.
So I was just grateful to play here, win or lose, and I think that's why, from the jump I thought I played amazing tennis. I didn't feel like I had many moments where I was breaking down or feeling a bit the pressure.
I played with the crowd at the right moments, and yeah, very excited to get back there tomorrow.
THE MODERATOR: We'll move to French.
