AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 2, 2026

Shannon Tan

Lancashire, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Shannon Tan, birdie finish. That's going to be your best result at a major. Keep seeming to get better and better with every major, and a birdie finish, must be really happy?

SHANNON TAN: Yeah, I think definitely pretty happy to see the way my game has progresses this week, but also at the same time I also left quite a bit of shots out there.

Hit a four-putt today and the past few days putts just didn't drop. It was also like how much more like I can improve, and it's always good to see that I can always find room for improvement.

But, at the same time, it was also like playing with the LPGA girls this week, just seeing how my game compared, like seeing what I can improve on compared to them, so it's obviously a good learning week as well.

Q. How comfortable are you feeling in these big events now? You seem super relaxed out there.

SHANNON TAN: Yeah, definitely getting more and more comfortable. I remember my first ever major two years ago in Evian was completely different. Felt completely different. I think when you keep putting yourself in the same situations over and over you learn how to cope with it and it just feels normal to me right now, so yeah.

Q. Tell me about the shot on 18. That was some approach in there.

SHANNON TAN: Yeah, 120 meters. My stock nine is about 120, so perfect number, perfect club. Hit it pretty much on the line I was going at, and then, yeah, ended up three feet past. From my angle I couldn't actually see where the ball ended up because it was behind the pin, but I was like, that's a pretty good shot. So that was a good finish.

Q. This has been an awesome week. I know Royal Lytham is special to you because it's the place Georgia Hall won.

SHANNON TAN: Yes.

Q. But this whole event, what would you say has been the best thing for you?

SHANNON TAN: I think the best thing, play experience. I think like the AIG Women's Open always puts up a good event. I think the food is amazing. Kind of everything pretty much on site, like gym, physios, the facilities are great. And how like everyone here is just really helpful, like the team here as well.

So I think overall this week is always a week that I look forward to. It's really good play experience. Has been really good this week. But, yeah.

Q. And what does this do for your confidence now? Top 10 at a major is an incredible result. I know you have got a big stretch of events on the LET, so what does this do for the confidence?

SHANNON TAN: Definitely it's a confidence booster I would say. Playing London next week, so that will be a good event to sort of bring that confidence and momentum in.

Playing London, Swiss, pretty much doing everything on the LET except for Italy. But, yeah, I have a good run of events in Europe and then the Asia Swing as well, so will be a good run of events.

Q. Yeah, next week, Centurion, you played few times I guess.

SHANNON TAN: This will be my third time there. It's different now. It's probably more baked out. I've seen pictures of the heat wave.

I think I quite like the course and I've done decent the past two years, so it will be good to go back there. It's a familiar ground and I sort of know like what to do and like what to expect.

So, yeah.

Q. Any plans while you're in England? I know sometimes you like to go to London.

SHANNON TAN: Maybe not next week. I'm going to drive down tomorrow and then walk the front nine and play the back nine on Tuesday, pro-am on Wednesday. It's a busy week for me, and head off to Swiss after that.

Unfortunately not this time round. Maybe next time. I quite love London, because it reminds me of Singapore in some ways. I've got a lot of friends there from Singapore.

But unfortunately not this trip.

Q. This final question then, this performance, how proud are yourself are you? That's four great rounds out here, and one of the toughest tournaments, majors there is. How proud of yourself are you, Shannon?

SHANNON TAN: Pretty proud. Most proud of myself for my mental, like my grind. It was really windy yesterday and game was probably like a C+, B- and somehow managed to put even par in, which is quite a decent score yesterday considering not many people were under par.

So I think grinded it out this week and I'm quite proud of myself for that.
