TV Quick Quotes
Q. Charley, well played. 3-over through your opening six. How proud are you of that fight out there today?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, I was pretty proud at like the first six holes. I played like a ten handicapper I felt. I missed all the -- I missed three putts that I should have holed from like five foot in and I think they was -- that would've kept me level par instead of being 3-over.
Then I did have a bit of a bounceback and I hit a great shot into the last hole and it looked like the putt was going to be kind of quick down that slope, so I hit it on a great line and just left it short.
But, no, I was pretty happy with the way I finished.
Q. You got it going on the back nine. Let's see, a couple the birdies. This at 15. What did the energy feel like at this point as you were trying to get something going?
CHARLEY HULL: Just thought, I can get it back here. Nice 5-iron into this hole. Adz actually reminded me of the 5-that I hit in in practise very close. Just said, hit the same shot, and I did actually, so it was good.
Q. Did you feel the adrenaline at this point? Were you looking at leaderboards kind of knowing your situations?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah. Yeah, I was looking at leaderboards. To be fair, there is not many leaderboards out on the golf course, so it's quite hard to see where you are at. Sometimes I do like to have a sneaky look.
Q. That at 15, and this at 16.
CHARLEY HULL: Yep.
Q. Look how close this one. What club?
CHARLEY HULL: Sand wedge.
Q. Staring it down.
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it was pretty close. I found the greens a little bit more bobbly out there this afternoon, so it's quite -- once you miss one putt and then you're not trusting the greens, sometimes you just struggle then to trust your stroke.
So then the back nine I just thought about keeping my head down after I putted the ball, so that kind of helped me.
Q. Really nice par save at 17 as well.
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah.
Q. You said you had that chance at 18.
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah.
Q. The energy from the crowd, how much did that help you coming in as well?
CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it was really good. It's really, really cool to -- the crowd is cheering your name and stuff. It's nice to see.
Q. We know what this means of course; been talking about it all week ling. But you see the position right now. Some inexperience at the top of the leaderboard. What are your thoughts heading into Sunday?
CHARLEY HULL: I just want to go out there and enjoy it tomorrow. Not put much pressure on myself. Just go out there and have fun and trust my swing.
I feel like two weeks of links golf and last week was very, very windy. It's batted my swing about a little bit where I'm very much a -- if I'm in America, say like on a golf course, I like to hit high fades in and draws in and kind of like putt my way around the golf course like that.
But when it's windy like this you can't really do that, so I'm finding it hard to sometimes trust my lines into the greens with my iron shots.
Q. Good stuff today. Brilliant fightback after that start, couple under.
CHARLEY HULL: Thank you.
Q. We will follow you every step of the way tomorrow, Charley. Thank you very much.
CHARLEY HULL: Thank you.
