AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

July 31, 2026

Nelly Korda

Lancashire, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Great ball striking day from you today.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah.

Q. How did you find the golf course today with that kind of ball striking performance?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it was definitely better than yesterday. Yeah, at the start of the round I just found myself in kind of difficult positions yesterday.

Other than that flare out to the right on three today, I hit it really solid, and that's kind of what you need around here. You have to stay out of these pot bunkers and you really have to judge the bounces too. It's hard to, but just because it's sunny out doesn't mean the fairways are not kind of burnt out.

They definitely have gotten firmer since yesterday playing in the morning obviously just judging the bounces and making sure you're in a good position. You know, sometimes having a 4-iron in on a par-4 is better than pitching out -- being aggressive, pitching out, and hitting a third into a green.

Q. What's been your strategy on the greens this week?

NELLY KORDA: Well, lag putts are fine. Obviously just want to be on the green and give yourself an opportunity. I've had Jason come in and read greens and I've actually lined it up. Just because you have to play wind here, too and I just wasn't really seeing the breaks too well.

So that's kind of why I pulled Jay in. I don't normally do that. I like to do it myself so I'm confident in my own decisions. These are the weeks kind of that I usually always pull him in.

Q. How far was the one you jarred from a ways away?

NELLY KORDA: A long way, but it was a nice kickstart to the round.

Q. Been playing with Haeran the past couple days. What have you made of her?

NELLY KORDA: Just really solid. You can tell she's a very confident player right now, as she should be. Just won the past two majors. Just hitting it really good. Putting really, really well, too.

I think her and Martin just make a really good team, too, on the greens.

So, yeah, she's playing really good golf.

Q. Enjoyed playing with this group the past couple days?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, always enjoy playing with Lyds. She's amazing to watch, especially her short game. I mean, some of the shots today that she was hitting were so dirty and so impressive. So it's fun to play with and also fun watch.

Q. Could hear you saying good shot on different things. Is it nice having that togetherness when you're so intense and competitive?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I think girls are really respectful out here and we always say good shot when there is a good shot that's hit.

Q. Can I ask a slightly left field one? You and Jessica obviously got your Czech background and Bernard Langer has also got Czech background.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah. I did not know that.

Q. And I think Sandra Gal might as well.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, her dad is Czech.

Q. Czech is like the secret hot bed of European golf.

NELLY KORDA: I don't know. They definitely produce a lot of hockey and tennis players for sure.

Q. Yeah.

NELLY KORDA: But, yeah, I mean, I don't really know. I didn't really grow up in Czech. I spent a little bit of time there until I was about nine. Other than that I grew up in Florida.

Q. When you go back there, is it like you're totally unrecognised?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I play under the radar, usually, except when I'm on the golf course.

Q. Must be quite nice I would think.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it's beautiful. For sure. I mean, I have the freedom at home, too. Like back home in Sarasota everyone kind of let's me be and they're very respectful, yeah.

Q. What does it mean to play your way into this position again and put yourself near -- I know still chasing, but near again heading into the last 36?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, 36 in, 36 holes to go. You never know what's going to happen. It's golf. It's links golf. Just going to try to have the same attitude I had today going into the weekend, yeah.
