AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

July 31, 2026

Amelia Garvey

Lancashire, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Amelia, pretty gutsy performance in the end. 1-under par to what looks like make the cut on the number.

AMELIA GARVEY: Uh-huh.

Q. Tell me how you're feeling right now.

AMELIA GARVEY: Yeah, it was pretty stressful out there for sure. That closing stretch is brutal, so I made some unreal up and downs on 14 and 15, and then to par the last, yeah, I'm just really proud of myself.

Hopefully it stays at four, but, yeah, definitely looking forward to the weekend.

Q. After those bogeys on 11 and 12, how important was that then bounceback birdie on 13?

AMELIA GARVEY: Yeah, that was huge. Could feel the wheels coming off a little bit there, especially on a par-5. It was just annoying to kind of bogey that one.

But, yeah, to get that birdie on 13, which is playing pretty tough today, was awesome.

And then, yeah, just held on for dear life after that.

Q. 1-under par round this track is some doing. After yesterday's scorecard what were you telling yourself last night?

AMELIA GARVEY: It wasn't that bad yesterday. I think that is just links golf for you. With the winds that we had, yeah, I knew I could go out and put a low round -- not a low round, but a good round out today.

But, yeah, we just did a little bit of work on the range yesterday after the round and just needed to commit to something simple today, and that's what I did.

Q. How much are you enjoying the experience here this week? Obviously a big event; AIG Women's Open. Big as it gets really. Just the whole atmosphere and environment looks incredible? How are you finding it?

AMELIA GARVEY: Yeah, it's awesome. It's pretty close to my home base over here in the UK, so I've got a lot of supporters out here watching me today which was really nice.

But, yeah, I feel like this is probably -- it's obviously the biggest event I play all year. Yeah, for it to be at a venue like this which has so much history is pretty cool. To be here and to be able to play the weekend is awesome. Q. Obviously support out there on the 18th, Patty T.

AMELIA GARVEY: And Vicky.

Q. Bunch of fans out there. How nice was it to see her watching you?

AMELIA GARVEY: I could see her trying to hide. I saw her before I hit my last putt and she was like standing behind one of the things in the clubhouse and I was like, you're not hiding very well there.

To see she was waiting for me on the last hole again she's awesome. I'm actually staying with her this week, which is really nice, too.

Yeah, I don't know how she...

Q. Same score as you; could be playing together.

AMELIA GARVEY: That would be cool. Yeah, great friend for sure.

Q. Final question from me then. You spoke a lot about kind of the mentorship of the Lydia Ko and how she helped you and she has her camps in the the U.S. which you've gone over to. Having her this week, because you don't play too many events together, I know you've been spending a little bit of time with her, perhaps talking to her. Just tell me about that.

AMELIA GARVEY: Yeah, I actually said something to her on the range the other day because she's known for teeing it really low, right? I think I've got her this week with how low I am teeing that little mini driver.

Yeah, I think she's just awesome. I haven't actually seen her that much this week to be fair, but, yeah, we had a little chat about the New Zealand Open and how cool that's going to be. The crowds are going to be ridiculous for it to be in Auckland. I am pretty sure it probably will be one of her last ones.

Yeah, both really looking forward to that. It's cool we're able to see each other throughout the year as well.
