AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

July 30, 2026

Diksha Dagar

Lancashire, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Diksha, Brilliant round. 2-under par. Really clutch par saves coming in there an 17 and 18. Tell me about your day.

DIKSHA DAGAR: Lucky today was not very much windy today, and I'm happy that I could play steady golf and I didn't play like aggressive golf. I was playing short of the bunker. Main challenge was the bunker, so I was playing short of the bunker. I was kind of making a strategy how to save the score.

Q. Yeah, that was going to be my question, because you always say you love to play aggressive no matter what. Out here you just can't afford to do that. There are so many bunkers, so much danger out there. How do you rein it in and tell yourself no, I'm not going to be aggressive?

DIKSHA DAGAR: Actually, I played the practise round here. I was like, oh, my God. All my drives were going -- bunkers were coming into play. So here bunkers are so dangerous. I mean, you can't go on to the green, so I thought strategy was it's better to play short and play long irons into the green. At least you are getting around the green and making up and down.

So this strategy helped me to score 2-under par.

Q. What do you make of this course and this test at Royal Lytham?

DIKSHA DAGAR: This golf course is really challenging. I heard that they are 176 bunkers on this course, so bunker was the main challenging. So, yeah, that's it.

Q. You come into this event with lots of form on the Ladies European Tour, but obviously this is a different ballgame. You come to a major, all the best players in the world are here. You posted a good score. What was sort of the confidence like coming into this week?

DIKSHA DAGAR: Actually my main -- my strength is that I'm very good at playing in windy conditions, and I love the Scottish link course, and because I have that skill to play the (indiscernible) all the time, which is very easy for me.

And playing regular round Ladies European Tour has helped me, you know, build the confidence playing on this course.

Q. How are the energy levels feeling? You played lots of golf again this year and it's a late finish on the first day today. So how are you just feeling in yourself?

DIKSHA DAGAR: It's giving me confidence. This season has been great so far for me, and have very close to win on the LET. So last week I played really solid golf. I was very close to finishing top 10, so because of that confidence I had a belief that maybe I can play well here. Let's continue the same process.

Q. Because of that, do you set yourself a target for this week? Do you have a position in mind? Obviously make the cut.

DIKSHA DAGAR: I don't have any expectation from this golf course. Just mainly goal is just try to make the cut. I mean, try to finish top 30 or maybe finish better position in this tournament.
