Washington D.C.

Quick Quotes

A. POTAPOVA/V. Williams

6-3, 6-3

Q. Congratulations on the win. Talking about your preparation for the hard court, how excited were you to get back on the hard courts, and how was your preparation with the change of surfaces?

ANASTASIA POTAPOVA: Yes, I was very excited to be back on the hard court because I really enjoying being here.

The preparation actually went well. We managed to get two weeks of fully practicing. Yeah, that's great when you can get this time.

Yeah, I think everything went well today, and I'm very happy with the performance.

Q. Were you preparing back in Europe or in the States?

ANASTASIA POTAPOVA: No, we were preparing back at home in Europe, so yeah. I've been here a week in advance, so I get time to get used to the time and to the time zones and to the courts.

Q. So I guess talking about the delay, I guess it's not that uncommon in tennis, but how did you stay prepared for it? I guess you were originally scheduled to be last on, and now you came up. How much preparation did you have?

ANASTASIA POTAPOVA: That's just a part of our sport where you don't really know what time you're going to be on, so you got to be ready for everything.

Unfortunately, it was a little bit messy with the rain, because I didn't get my warmup on the court before the match, so I had to go and play without a warmup. So I think that's why I had a little slow start, if you can call it that way.

Yeah, I mean, we are here to adapt on anything that happens and just to try our best.

Q. Talking about just the weather being in terms of the temperature, and how did you think the courts played? It was a little bit cooler, even though it was hotter to start in the day?

ANASTASIA POTAPOVA: To be honest, it felt like a different tournament, because I was always practicing during the daytime under the heat, the humidity. And obviously after the rain, it got a little bit cooler, and the temperature dropped so much, and the humidity went. So it was a bit more dryer, to be honest.

Yeah, I mean, as I said, we're here to adapt on anything that happens, and I think that we can do it well since every week for us is different. So, yeah, I mean, it's great experience to play under the lights in Washington, and let's see if I can get it one more time.
