The Gleneagles Hotel, Kings Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Started the day eight shots behind and you've climbed that leaderboard with a magnificent round of 67. Give us your overall impression of the day?

PAT PEREZ: I played material yesterday. Got off to a good start today. Made some putts. Making par on last is like making a 10. It's just so easy and so frustrated with that right now but the other holes were great.

I've never played well in links golf, so I'm kind of in No Man's Land. I thought they set the course up a little suspect yesterday, they had some kind of crazy pins. But today it was phenomenal. The wind stayed away. It was a great day. I kind of got a lot out of my day.

Q. It's only been five bogey-free rounds all week and you've had two of them. This is your 11th competitive start. How do you explain how you're able to do things that other people can't?

PAT PEREZ: I haven't played a competitive round -- I haven't played really since August 24th. I don't know. I've been grinding. I've been playing a lot at home. But every day is like a new day. Like I can't wait to get into a groove next year but it's really been fun. I've played three majors this year. It's so nice to be back. I didn't think there was ever going to be a path for me to get back.

It was frustrating, it's so fun to be back out here and playing again, and I'm really excited. I can't explain -- I've been playing well. The courses aren't as long so I'm able to get in spots that I haven't been in a long time.

I'm enjoying it and learning as I go. I can't explain it. There's bogeys everywhere. I made a ton yesterday. I don't know, just kind of hitting it where I need to and just trying to plot around and thinking a little bit different, maybe. It's fun. This kind of golf here, I've never really figured out how to do it.

And like Faldo said last week, it's strategy. It's hard when you don't really play -- I haven't played over here since Birkdale. It's a great course and I'm just having a blast this week and just kind of taking what's coming.
