Quick Quotes
Q. You talked changing your setup this week. Can you go into more detail about that?
JENNY SHIN: It's just my putter but that difference alone is quite big. So I have to be quite conscious every single putt. I feel like I've been doing a pretty decent job except for ten.
Q. And what were you trying to get out of standing a little taller, why this week?
JENNY SHIN: By standing a bit taller, I feel a little bit more stable over the ball when it's windy. Sometimes when I'm bent over, my arms -- that was the idea. Yeah, it's been working so far.
Q. And you're leading the field in birdies and the least amount of bogeys, too. What do you point to that's carried you up to here?
JENNY SHIN: I don't know if I mentioned this yesterday but this is the best ball-striking I've ever had coming into The Scottish Open. I felt that during the practice round, as well, I was a lot less fearful over the ball compared to other years.
So that has really helped my confidence.
But yeah, confidence does wonders.
Q. I think we have noticed it, too, in some of the shots you hit. You start walking right away and you have the could have had. With the lead that you have, you said you've never been in this position, what do you help to get from tomorrow, regardless of what happens?
JENNY SHIN: Hope I don't go blind. There was a few times today where I was looking down at the ball but I couldn't see the ball. So hopefully I can just focus on the things that I focused on, every single shot this week, not get ahead of myself.
It's really hard, though. I can't stop thinking about it. Every shot, I'm like, oh, my God. So I'm going to try my best to stay present, yeah.
Q. Can you describe it to somebody who has not been in that position?
JENNY SHIN: I don't know, I love thinking. I love thinking about thinking. So it's really chaotic in there. I don't know how to explain it. I sometimes have no idea what I'm thinking about. Yeah, it's really tuning myself up and thinking myself into it.
Q. And this evening, just in preparation for tomorrow, anything that you're going to kind of focus on? You said you might go practice a little bit. Anything you're going to go through with your team for tomorrow?
JENNY SHIN: Yeah, I'll just -- I don't know, what are we talking about, five-shot lead, what do you talk about? I don't know what to talk about -- what I had for lunch? Yeah.
Q. Given how nervous you were, the sort of things you talked about, how proud are you with the score you put together and the distance you kept from the field?
JENNY SHIN: I'll be honest, after the first five holes, our two ball usually takes four hours or less, so I just wanted to keep up with the group and stay focused on the small things, simple things. Yeah, I don't -- I wouldn't know if I'm proud of myself until next week.
Q. You can be proud of today or take from today into tomorrow the final day, how you dealt with yourself today with those nervous feelings and came out on top.
JENNY SHIN: Yeah, maybe I'll think about that.
Q. ISPS Handa is the title sponsor here and keeps continuing to support women's golf, how do you feel about that?
JENNY SHIN: Yeah, very grateful. Very happy to come back to Scotland every year. It's a really good opportunity to prep ourselves for the British Open, and I really love coming over here.
