THE MODERATOR: Bryson DeChambeau, captain of Crushers GC, welcome back to the Media Center. Currently 5-under today. Currently sitting in second place, 13-under. How did you feel about today's performance?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: I felt good out there. I struck it well again. I feel like I played some solid golf. Besides a couple bogeys that I made, I felt like I was playing some really nice control golf. Then the last couple holes were kind of weird, just golf, and I didn't execute it the way I can.

Lucas is playing really good. Can't really do much about that. It seems like he's not really making too many mistakes. Even when he makes mistakes, the next hole, birdie. That's what you got to do to win out here, and it's really difficult. But there's still 36 holes of golf left, and I'm excited for the weekend.

Q. You mentioned those last few holes. It may not jump out on the scorecard, but how important were saving those two pars there on 17 and 18?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: 17 and 18 for sure. I just misjudged the wind on 17 and then didn't execute the shot I know I could execute on 18, just kind of left it out to the right and consequently left myself a 7-footer for par. Could have had a birdie opportunity look on 18. Tried to give myself that and just didn't execute on the second shot.

I'll go work on that a little bit. All in all, I feel like my game's in a great place and excited for the weekend.

Q. At one point in the round today, you did pass Lucas on the leaderboard, and then he got hot on the back nine. Still two rounds to go. What's it going to take to pass him and hold onto that?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, just shoot 10-under par both days. That's what it feels like I've got to do. Him being four ahead, it's not going to be an easy task. I just didn't finish off the back nine the way I know I can.

It was 5-under par. It's not like it was a bad round of golf. He just shot 6-under and shot 11-under yesterday. There's not much you can really do about that. It's going to be a great battle, no matter what. I hope I can give him a battle.

Q. Lucas said that he thinks it's getting close to being a two-man race, and he hopes obviously it will be a one-man race later on. Do you think it's pretty close to like it's going to be you and Lucas? Obviously you'll be in the final group tomorrow too.

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, I hope so. I think again for me I've got to focus on playing some really good golf, not making too many mistakes out there. I made too many on the back nine today. Making birdie on 10, it was a great birdie. Then to not hit 5-wood and hit 3-wood and bounce it over the cart path into the rough was just not smart.

I played good on 12, 13, it was great. Hit one bad drive on 15, and that was really it. If I don't hit that drive on 15 and potentially make the putt on 16 -- shoulda, coulda, woulda, right? We all know how that goes. It is what it is, four shots back, and 36 holes of golf.

Q. I want to ask you about your short game today, particularly the chips at 10 and 12, obviously the bunker shot at 17. It seemed like from that standpoint it was a really, really good day for you.

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, I felt comfortable. When the greens and fairways kind of get baked out, I get really comfortable. I like that style of golf. Especially No. 6 today, that bump and run up that hill, that was really cool to have and see and execute quite well.

It's one of those things that for whatever reason on firmer grounds I get really comfortable chipping around the greens. Don't know why, it's just one of those greens to screw up on, I guess.

Q. You've already won twice this year. Obviously going for a third win. This is the fourth calendar year you've had multiple victories. I'm just wondering when you process end of the season type stuff, how do you balance quantity of wins versus quality of wins?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: That's a great question. It's funny, I feel like I've had my best year out here this year, and for whatever reason, I feel like I've left a lot out there, which is quite interesting to me, but very grateful for having a great year out here.

Jon's played some great golf. I don't know where he is. I don't know where he finished, but I'm sure he's going to be a force to be reckoned with the next couple of days and in New Jersey as well, finishing out the season.

I don't really know what to say. I feel like this year I was ready to go. I felt ready to go this year. It didn't work out that way in the majors. I feel really comfortable with my game, as comfortable as I felt in a long time.

I feel pretty close to Greenbrier, the way I was playing the past couple days. Just a couple little tweaks here and there with the driver and 3-wood, and I feel like I'm right there. I'm knocking on that door.

As it related to the season, like I played great. I'm happy that -- my first year out here, I was struggling quite a bit. I turned it around obviously later in that year in '23. In '22 I wasn't really doing that great either. It's just one of those things I feel like I've progressed and gotten better as a golfer in different conditions.

It's taken me a little bit. I wasn't necessarily an international golfer coming out in the professional ranks. I feel like I've become more of a complete golfer in that regard. So you're still always learning, yeah.

Q. Does it help that you're playing around the globe, that you're kind of experiencing different courses?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: That's what I mean. As time has gone on out here at LIV, you're playing around the globe quite a bit. You're feeling and experiencing different grasses and learning how to compete under those conditions.

I feel like, if anything, it's made me a more well-rounded golfer and given me the ability to learn in different situations because I wasn't fortunate to have that as a kid. I played in my area, and that's it. I didn't have the ability to go travel nor the money to go travel.

I feel like this has given me a bet of a step up and leg up in my golf experience. Hopefully I can translate that to future years.

Q. Paul's back obviously this week. Today he led the field in driving distance.

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Really? How many cart paths did he hit (laughter)?

Q. I was going to ask you if you thought he was sneaky long, I don't know.

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: I don't know what he was doing in those nine weeks off (laughter). No, he's always been sneaky long. It's funny, he has this piercing low bullet. He's such a great player, I'm so glad to have him back on the team. I need him, we need him for the last few weeks of this year.

Travis was great, but ultimately Paul's been a stable piece in our team and very excited to have him back and glad he's healthy.

Q. We've always thought that your teammates are kind of the three uncles, but is there one that's actually more of a fatherly type figure?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Ban for sure tries to be. He's more the father figure, I feel like. He's more soft. Everything's okay. It's not a big deal. Here's the perspective. Paul is a bit of a rah-rah, and Charles is kind of a yes man, but he's a great dude. They're all just unique in their own way.

They take care of me quite a bit, more than I deserve.
