Pat Perez

Perthshire, Scotland, United Kingdom

The Gleneagles Hotel, Kings Course

Quick Quotes

Q. What did you do particularly well today?

PAT PEREZ: Kept it in play, for one. Didn't really get the speed on the greens. I got off to a pretty good start. Made some putts. Wind picked up early.

I wasn't expecting that much wind today, and you know, I kind of kept it in front of me. I had not played much this year. This is only my ninth tournament round. Any time I play, I start off-season again, so I never really know what's coming. I prepared the last two weeks.

Like I said, just kept it in front of me. Hit it in the right spots.

Q. Your debut at this championship and Gleneagles, as well. What were your thoughts and how does it compare to expectations?

PAT PEREZ: The weather is incredible. I've never been over here like this. The grass has dried up and the ball is running a lot. They set it up so well all the time. Like Carnoustie, last time I was there, the greens were receptive.

They do such a phenomenal job setting up the course so it's actually fair. I love it. When the sun is out like this and not raining sideways like when I was at Birkdale last time, I love it. It's a really great test.
