Q. Interview No. 20 at least this season with Bryson. Today were you fueled by looking at that leaderboard and seeing what Lucas was doing yet again?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: 100 percent. Lucas is on a heater right now, and seeing him go out and birdie the first few, I could have been 4-under through 3, 3-under through 3, really proud of my game. I looked up; I was like, oh, I'm two back. What the heck is going on.

It was definitely a motivative thing for me today. I played some good golf. My irons are a lot better now, which I'm proud of myself for working on it and figuring something out.

Just a little bit of tweaks here and there with the driving, and I played really well today. I felt like I could have given it a run for a sub-60 round, but I'm happy with the play I played.

Q. How high are your expectations every time you come into a LIV event like this, and did you meet them today?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, definitely. Shooting 8-under out here is no easy task. Shooting 11-under is a crazy task. It's really cool to see Lucas doing that. But I was proud of the way I handled myself. I took advantage of the par-5s and kept playing well today.
