Q. Herby, great round today, 11-under par, bogey-free. That was a lot of fun to watch. At any point today was the number 59 on your mind?

LUCAS HERBERT: What do you think? Of course it was. No, it definitely was. You could see in my reaction there on 17, when that didn't go in, I was like, that was my chance.

But if you were going to pick days you were going to shoot 59, I wouldn't have thought today would have been the day. The golf course is a little firm, which makes it play a little tougher and a bit of breeze out there that kind of moved around. I'm pretty incredibly happy with 61 still.

Q. You won in D.C. and then you contended at The Open last week and here you are off to a fantastic start. Are you unlocking a different level of self-belief in you, or is this more trusting in your process?

LUCAS HERBERT: Yeah, I think so. I think once you've been there and done that a little bit, you have the confidence that you know you can do it.

Yeah, I feel like I'm getting a new taste for being out there at the top of the leaderboard. I'm shooting some pretty low rounds, playing some good golf, getting my ugly lid on TV a few more times. That's been pretty fun. It looks like I'm at least going to get another day tomorrow of doing it, hopefully a few more over the weekend.

Q. England and Australia are no short of sporting rivalry. How do you think the locals feels seeing the Ripper flag at the top of the individual as well as the team leaderboard?

LUCAS HERBERT: I don't know, it's like The Ashes all over again. It's been a while since the England flag has flown out there. Another Aussie represents pretty nice. I look up at that team leaderboard and see us in front there too is pretty good. Trav debuting for us today, I haven't seen exactly where he's at, but he must have got off to a pretty solid start if we're up at the top of that end of the leaderboard.

I'm happy for him, and hopefully he can continue some of that form into the weekend, too.
